Misc Tech / Re: Another AC question
manual or electronic climate control? there is a clutch relay inside the heater box on the ETC cars. Also there is waht is called a Wide Open Throttle relay in the system. On the 5.0 cars it is on the right front fender apr0n just behind the air filter box, also the a/c pressure switch on top of the acspoogeulator. Use a paper clip to jumper the pressure switch. If compressor kick on either the switch is bad or there is too little refrigerent in the system. If jumping that switch doesn't work try jumping the WOT relay. If that doen't work go inside the car and check. I went throught the smae thing with my air.Thats how i found the realy in the heater control bOx for the clutch signal

Engine Tech / Re: a/c question
quick update. i guess i let some dirt in the system. Sytem is full on the high side dead on the low side. I guess orifice tube is clogged. Drain it down. Replace or clean new tube then charge and try again. I figured with all new parts i would be safe, but since some of the items were old stock, some crud was inside. Oh well. whats another couple of bucks.
Any ideas on a safe way to back flush and clean system. Other than going to an A/C shop? I can pull and recover my fridgerent, but don't have any other supplies.

Engine Tech / a/c question
have now changed out every parts of the a/c system condensor, evaporator, acspoogeulator, all hose, both peices of the ETC in the dash. Pulled the sytem down with a vaspoogen pump. held 30 pounds vaspoogem for over 2 hours. charged the system, had a samll problem with the pressure switch. Fixed the switch ran the system nice cold air. ran the leak detector around no hits, system worked for about 8 hours. the next morning no cold. still no leaks detected but system pressure is low. I'm reluctant to try stop leak or UV dye at this point, i don't wnat to have to buy another expansion line. any ideas on leak areas that i might not have hit with the detector?

Lounge / Re: Too late to turn back now
like the depth. most garages are just to short to use with a car inside. My 65 mustang is a small car at it is over 18 feet long bumper to bumper add 2 feeet of walk around thats 22 feet with the door closed.

Engine Tech / mass air benefits
i know that to really get the most out of the 5.0 eithe h.0 or s.o i need to do the mass air conversion. the question is are there any immediate benifits (horsepower, gas milage, drivabilty) out of the change with out doing any other mods.

Suspension/Steering / tires tires tires update
Went to Sears to get my tires. Called first to make sure that the kuhomo tires at 66.97 each were in stock. told that they were on the truck for deleivery later in the day, as i was going after diner no problem. Chated a few minutes with the tire GAL state disposal fee, lifetime balancing, new valve stems, 75000 mile warranty taxes ad nauseum total was going to around $360.00. Showed up around 7:00 pm at the auto center, as i walked in the door the night time tire guy says "i've been trying to call your" oh shiznit i think. The tires were n't on the truck. I negotiated a little and decide to up grade to Falkien's same size, same warrantly, all the extras (hey my kids driving the car i want the warranties) and proceed to head to the mall to meet my wife and kid for dinner and shopping. About 1 and 1/2 hours later head back to the auto center there's the bird with its shinning new shoes. I walk in to finish the paperwork. Guy starts printing mountains of paper work for four lousy tires. then he hands me a filled out rebate card for goodyear tires, HUH?. I say i din't buy good years. He says hey we were out of the falkiens too. so i upgraded you to the good years at the same price, and you get a rebate $25.00 a tire. So now have 4 goodyears 75,000 mile warranty, lifetime balance and rotation, road side assistance for road hazard to tires total $415.04 plus got $100.00 buck rebate on the way. out of pocket $315.04 not bad i guess it pays to be nice to the guys behind the counter.

IE explorer dropped to under 90% of browser market and firefox jumper up to like 6% guess what. firefox has just annnounced updates to fix security leaks in their browser. If the Mac gots every got up to like 8 to 10% of market they would be attacked also. I like the moped buttstuffogy

Engine Tech / Re: wat part do I need
I agree talk to knowledgeable folks in your area (clubs, custom shops, read the boards) i wanted more horse power too when i started (still do) but i've been reading and learning and have backed off on my expectations, because of:
1. the car is fun to drive as it is
2. the 155 hp rating is deceptive the car acually performs pretty well
3. the cheap simple things to do at the start seem to work against  later planed updates.
4. a complete going over of all systems to bring them back to peak perfromance has really helped. New plugs, new wires, new cap, new rotors, new TPS, new O2 sensors, new fuel and air filters, correct thermostat, clean the inside of the throttle body, fix all
vaspooge leaks, clean all electrical connections and make sure they are tight when reinstalled. doing all this over the course of about 2 month cost just over $100.00 and my 96K mile t-bird with single exhaust now gets over 15 mpg and will spin the tires from a standing start on dry pavement, and the kick down punch on the highway when passing is a really something for an 18 year old car.
