i did the 1 in my old sport.. it wasn't that hard.. maybe the fact that the board was in great shape.. the fiberboard  breaks entirely too easily, cardboard headliner boards are a breeze

The problem I had here was that the old glue was pulling chunks off of the fiberglass backer board. I never got it as straight as I wanted to. The more I tried to get it level, the more I was weakening the whole thing. I finally said screw it and covered it anyway.

There are visible lumps in it that don't show in the picture. If this was a customers car I wouldn't use it.

The GTI that I did had a fiberboard (as in wood fiber) backer board. It came clean of foam and glue, and the job turned out smooth.

Just a little tip Bruce, be sure to take it out the passengers door.  You can leave the seats in, just angle them all the way back :)

Two steps forward and one step back.  I was showing off the stereo to folks over Thanksgiving and the left speaker died. Turned out to be a broken wire somewhere between the door and the dash, so I pulled a new wire through and fixed it up.

While messing with that the drivers door handle got loose, so I took the panel apart enough to fix that up. The wifi decided to quit on the carpc yesterday. I'm thinking a bad card at this point.  I've been fighting with trying to get Garmin navigation working on it. So far with no success. I have a free app that works, but would like to get Garmin to work. It has a better map/database for times that I don't want to pair my phone.

Anyway, I have tires in the works. Yokohamas in the stock size. Should be in any day now.

Headliner, mirror, and sunvisors in it now. I'm working on the dash cap and tidying up the wires on the passenger side, along with mounting the Megasquirt.

flylear.  I'm so happy for you.  The car is so close to being your daily driver. :)  How is the engine running?

Thanks, Shredder. It's getting closer all the time.

The engine is running pretty well so far. I recently changed my REQ FUEL parameter, so I need to go back and re-tune the low load bins to get it smooth again. I have tromped on it for very brief spurts to see how the AFR's look, and the TC injectors are keeping up just fine so far. I would bet that 45-55 lb/hr would be better when I get better heads on it.

The transmission is the best happy surprise so far. I just love it. (Well, that and the power steering conversion.)

It doesn't have plates yet so I've only had it out around the block a half dozen times.  I am going down for a 30 day tag today, then when plates are due in January I won't have to E-check it. ;) I'm going to paint and install the rest of the windshield trim and the last door seals today and start to put a few miles on it. The big thing for me is when it's ready for the 75 mile round trip to the airport. I'm thinking next week it should be ready. I need better tires on it first.

I had to replace the garage PC yesterday. The NIC was starting to flake out and it was pretty old anyway. I had an old P4 dell in the basp00get that a friend gave me, so I mixed and matched together another beater PC for out here.

On the Tbird front, I have put a few miles on it so far. Maybe 75 or so. The idle is still surging a bit, but I'm hoping to get that cured eventually. I will go to MS2 if I have to in order to get it running idling like a stocker.

I took my son for a spin last week. He has lots of time riding in the TR7 with me, and he thinks the Tbird is smoother and more powerful feeling than it is. He loves the clarity of the HD radio. I know what I'll be getting him for X-mas for the Daytona!

I took the wife around the block yesterday. She likes the electric toys and the fact that I kept all the creature comforts intact. She was playing with Windows Media Center and playing music while we were cruising, and was impressed when I called up the Megasquirt dash with all the gauges while her music was playing.

Right now I have issues with the wiper delay box making a high pitched noise after I run the wiper/washers. I think I need to swap out the delay box to fix that.

I need to troubleshoot the cruise control. It isn't working at all yet.

Brakes need bled, there's some air somewhere.

I also need to install the rear seat and all the seat belts, along with the rear trim panels. The shifter isn't trimmed out yet. Right now it is sporting black duct tape as a finisher. LOL

The PC and amp aren't hard mounted as of now, either. That's still on the to-do list.

Hopefully I can get tires on today so I can take it to work this week. (Unless it snows, of course!) In the meantime I'll be working on the punch-list and hopefully getting some video footage.

WRONG!

Double checked circuit and tried out different delay box and switch. No luck with that.

Then I went for a spare wiper motor and noticed the ground wire on the motor mounting. Light bulb went off and I tightened up that bolt on the motor. BINGO, no more buzzing from the delay box, plus the wipers went into park position.

It was trying to ground the wiper PARK function and backfeeding into the delay box.

I could have saved an hour of ripping apart the steering column and wire bundles under dash if I'd have noticed that wire before. (and tightened down the motor better I suppose)

Oh well, one more thing down.

BTW, I also had to tear into the passengers door panel because I forgot to connect the mirror on that side. The switch was bad as well, so I had to rip into the center console to repair it. I forgot to mention those things earlier.

OH, I did get the Garmin to work as intended. I now have turn by turn and mapping without the phone or wifi.

The wifi is back up and running thanks to the new USB dongle.

More like a toy-box I think. ;)

Stuck on the cruise control repair. Buttons, vacuum lines and vacuum dump valve all test fine. I swapped in a second used amplifier but it still isn't working. Gonna have to dig deeper.

I got the windshield trim and more under-hood seals put on this morning while I'm waiting for a tire shop to open.  There are still a few seals left to go. One on the hood back to dam off the HVAC fresh supply air from the engine compartment, and two at the bottoms of the doors.

Then it's just the rear seat, trunk trim, and the last interior panels on the inside. The fog lights, inner fender panels, and some under car plastic on the outside.

I read the troubleshooting section for the cruise control this morning. Now I'm gonna bust out the Ohm meter and see if I can get to the bottom of it's problem.

Car looks and sounds great. I forgot that hood gasket i couldn't figure out why I could occasionally smell exhaust in the car with the windows up. I thought it was the car in front of me thanks for the reminder. Still think we need a nice smokey vid from you with some boost:)
