I saved a pair of the old tires and I had a couple spare rims, so we have some excitement yet to come.  I just need to get a solid tune and make sure everything is tight and solid before I get crazy.:burnout:

are you still running the boost really low, or have you bumped it up around where you want to run it?

Still just sneaking into it and watching the AFR's like a hawk.

I have seen 10 psi so far for a short, short burst.

I was tuning 89 octane today. I actually think the car runs better on 89 than on 93. It's cold out, though. Plus I don't really have enough time on it to tell much yet.

The tune is solid for 5-6 psi for sure at this point. I feel like I have a pretty good handle on the engine's VE now, so it's getting easier to predict the next set of data points.

Now I will just take the table and smooth it out for all the range the engine will be seeing, and drive it around and datalog while I keep an eye on the AFR's. I'm pretty close to having a daily tune right now.

Car looks and sounds great. I forgot that hood gasket i couldn't figure out why I could occasionally smell exhaust in the car with the windows up. I thought it was the car in front of me thanks for the reminder. Still think we need a nice smokey vid from you with some boost:)

westie, don't forget those h-shaped gaskets around the hood hinges. They are really important for keeping out the fumes.

Thanks for the kind words. It is everything I hoped for so far!

Well, until I get a 351 here that's ready to go in, I figure 15 psi max. That's IF my injectors can keep up. I think they can.

My reasoning is that I've done 250 HP on a 2.3 with these injectors without having to up fuel pressure (which I frown upon), so for 400 HP (antited) on a 5.0 I would expect good results. So, I'm saying that if my stock engine and big-honkin' turbo can flow the air, I should be able supply safe fuel for 15 psi with this combo.

I am surprised just how bad-a*&ed the exhaust sounds. For a cheap-o Summit turbo  and a single exhaust it really shocked me when I got into it.

Any one who never had a boosted ride would be amazed how much of a dual personality it has. Turbo cars can be like that, though. Just tooling around N/A it's just like any old stocker 5.0. Once into boost it's a whole different animal!  I am soooo hooked on it. It's like a drug!

15psi should definitely make her a screamer, when the tires aren't spinning faster than the car is actually moving lol i love the dual personalities of turbo cars.. driving nice and easy, unsuspecting passengers never know what's coming at 1/2 to full throttle :giggle: .. again, love the car and super glad she turned out just the way you wanted!

I am going to put slicks on this car for some track time. I never put them on the TR7, even though I could have had 12's with them. I never built the rear suspension on that car to take the abuse (it's a 5 speed).

THIS car however...... THIS car can handle slicks I think. Being an auto and having the battle boxes and sub-frame connectors, I think it'll hold up.

I always intended for my whole family to run this thing at the track. My son, my wife, daughter, and me. My wife has already autocrossed before, and she is super competitive. I would bet that she will have the second best time of us all.

Right now it has a 5500 red line (for the converter), but should still be pretty potent at that. It's gonna be fun.

it's a shame you're not closer, i'd love to see the car run in person, when you get it to the track.

I'd love to have you there.

Video will follow, though. My son is now a fan, so he will be doing some nice ups for us all.

The old girl is a virgin no longer. I took her to work today. That's a 70 mile round tripper.

Absolutely no problems to report.

The part that sucks is that the snow got here earlier than I thought, so I not only drove it to work for the first time, but drove it on snowy roads for the first time to boot!

Actually Shadow, it wasn't horrible with the new tires. The Yokohamas I picked have a pretty aggressive tread that felt pretty stable on the 1/2 inch of wet snow we got.

I obviously had to be very gentle on the throttle moving from a stop, but the car is just like any other stock 5.0 bird in that regard.

I'm glad the salt trucks weren't out yet, so it all melted off the car with no harm done.
