408 stroker project (For Sale 5/2018) Reply #210 – February 26, 2011, 07:28:03 PM I would have but right now the brake pedal is like a sponge, I had to pump the pedal while bleeding the rear lines due to a blockage and had no one to close the line up for me so I sucked a huge amount of air in the lines. 408 stroker project (For Sale 5/2018) Reply #214 – August 18, 2011, 04:16:57 AM The "missing parts" would be the big red non-stock looking TFI on the newly remanufatured OEM distributor. When I first fired the 5.8 in my previous 88, it had issues with making power above 3k rpm. I was told from several sources that it was because of poor electronics quality inside of the new 400.00 MSD distributor. Went out and purchased a stocker and still had the problem. Turned out to be the TPS (also new, but a poor aftermarket one that came with the TB). Quote Selected
408 stroker project (For Sale 5/2018) Reply #215 – February 09, 2012, 12:21:57 AM Finally updated!!I solved 90% of my problems last weekend by swapping out that MSD distributor. After the video I posted last year after about 20 minutes of running it the car ran like again and than wouldn't start, I got pissed off and put it back in the garage for a year lol. My buddy was over last weekend we had a couple of hours to kill. We primed the oil pump, squirted a little oil in the cylinders and started her up and it barely ran. He messed with for about 20 min and said hey I think the distributor is bad. When we swapped the MSD dizzy out it started right up and idled nice again. This weekend or next I gotta bleed the brakes so I can take it for a ride. It still needs to be tuned, I'm going with quarter horse and a wideband o2 for data logging . I'm gonna purchase the moats QH from Willy@dirtydirtyracing from the corral with a base tune. Than once the wideband is installed I can send him the data logs and he will help me fine tune it further.Getting real close.. finally(still got the huge hole in the hood though lol) Quote Selected

408 stroker project (For Sale 5/2018) Reply #218 – April 11, 2012, 11:29:58 PM So Bob how did it all work out....I just read all 22 pages of this thread....drank 3 beers while doing it. I hope that she is a running when you get it tuned. I had pretty good luck with my QH and BE. I had LM1 for my wideband. It all worked pretty good. Takes a bit to tune, but you will have a good understanding on how it all works. I removed and sold all my QH to upgrade(IMHO to stingers PiMP). Almost got my 351 assembled. Just tracking down the correct damper, and such. We need an update. :) with video.Travis Quote Selected
408 stroker project (For Sale 5/2018) Reply #219 – April 12, 2012, 09:25:15 AM I'm still here, I'm going with QH and Willie from dirtydirtyracing.com, Willie will do the base tune and than fine tune from there with my datalogs from the wideband. Than from there the car will be drivable and I found a speed shop that my brother-in-law gets tuned at in Delaware and he said its $75 for 3 dyno runs, so with those runs we can fine tune further with Willie's help of course and hopefully in the process I'll learn a thing or two about QH. If I get stuck Willie is always a phone call away so I should be good. I just think that having the wideband and the control that QH gives is going to pay off in the long run than not having to run back to a tuner everytime. Actually I tried to make an appointment with a tuner about 5-6 weeks ago and after my intial conversation with the owner everything was cool, I send all my info to them (cam card, specs, etc.) Than I never got a call back, I called that shop 5 times talked to other employees there left my name and number each time and never got a call back. I found a guy on the corral that was going to the same shop and pm'd him. Here he says he go through this everytime time he deals with them. I don't want to deal with a place like that, I don't want to ever be in the possition that I'm begging someone to take my money. I understand that all shops are not going to be like that but this shop was local to me and I wouldn't need a tow to get there, my neighbor could run me up on his trailer in 10-15 min. So right now QH gets me on the road quicker, cheaper, and more hands-on with the tune rather than dropping it off and writing a check. Also I've done my research on the corral and talked to guys that work with Willie and they all have nothing but good things to say about him and his work, so I'm gonna give it shot. I've been working on my gauges right now, nothing special yet just 3 above the radio. I'm going with oil, temp, and Wideband. I'll post some pics when I'm done. Over the winter I'm going to redo the cluster with speedo, tach, move the oil and temp to the cluster and than put fuel, volt, wideband above the radio. Quote Selected
