Electrical Tech / Re: digi cluster problems
relay position is usually in the center of the dash between the central pod and the side cover next to the accelerator pedal, a metal bracket with 4 or 6 relays attached i beleive the one you need is the center on the outboard side. i had a similar problem with my car. when you turn the car on use a bright flaslight an shine it at an angle on the speedo section is there any info there at all? is the problem that it is not lite up or is there no information getting to the cluster?

Engine Tech / yet antoher exhaust question
 reading on cool cats web site. "88 cougar remained un-changed from 87 except for all 5.0's got dual exhaust". by inferance if i could find listings for 88 cougar exhaust from 5.0 i could get off the shelf duals for my 87 t-bird 5.0?? even if i could get specs or bend cards have a local shop bend up the tubes to factory specs? Is there some subtle difference between the cougar and t-bird that would make this swap not possible. :grinno:  :bricks1:

General Fox T-Bird/Cougar Discussion / Re: 85-up? defroster grilles
sorry guys mothers day kinda sneaked(snuke, snooked, oh well) up on me.. no i didn't forget flowers/card. just had other plans for sunday (junk yard) for some more interior peices and measurements. So i'll try and get there this week. After memomrail day weekend i won't have to work saturdays for a while so i'll have two days to get out. Pulled the door cups off my car and started cleaning them up and poured a mold base. still have to touch up the tops a little before i can pour that. I'll photo the first prototype later this week or early next and post here.

Lounge / Re: You sunburned yet?
outside of the arms and top of the head this weekend. lots of sun. heres a trick i learned from a florida native when i frist moved here. on the day you get the sun, just rinse in the shower no soap on the exposed skin. i hope you weren't at a clothing optional beach! the pain won't be as bad or as long lasting. Tried the vinegar thing mentioned a few post back. didn't work for me hurt for days but i didn't peel.

Audio & Other Aftermarket Electronics / low voltage at idle/ other times
have a 4 channel 200 watt amp powering a 10 subwoofer tube and 6 speakers(with crossover) in a cabinet all mounted in the trunk. at low idle (say red light with foot on the brake) amp cuts out, if i run wiper a/c and headlights amp cuts out. Also the  dash starts with the ding ding ding and the alt gauge pops up (digital dash) and shows the amps are at the low end of the scale. Do i need a second battery in the trunk or do i need a bigger alternator. should i go to a smaller amp, say 2  channel 100 watt?
ps it gets worse when powering the mp3 unit through the cig liter socket.
  please help

Lounge / Re: Looking to buy a digital camera
bought my son and my mother law each a radio shack flat-photo no optical zoom but other wise very reliable. cost is about 49.00 US. only around 1.4 meg though. has a memory card slot. if you don't want usb/card reader or other cables the only way to go is with the older sony mavica that load pic's on to 3.5 disc. some on e-bay for around $100.

good luck. waiting to see some pci's of your awsome car (LOL)

General Fox T-Bird/Cougar Discussion / 85-up? defroster grilles
saw a post a while back here about birds and cats not having defroster grilles. Only some of the MarkV11 had a trim ring? is this correct? I'm thinking of making grilles for my 87 bird. If there is any interest i will make a set of molds and sell them to this group for around $20.00 a pair they will be cast in UV stable white urethane suitable for painting. If any one has any other parts they want made in either ridgid urethane or soft urethane let me know. I will make each part available to this group first at a discount before releasing to vendors.

Sorry new to the fox/birds and cats. my main area of expertise and employment is the early 64-73 mustangs.

thanks in advance walt

General Fox T-Bird/Cougar Discussion / Re: Idea for a board-wide project:
when i read the first post i thought what a waste. just do a google search for your state/area/province and read up and your done. How wrong i was phrased ny search question several ways and couldn't find the info. lots of stuff about insurance and traffice law but nothing so far about the vehicle restrictions. so i think it would be a good idea

Engine Tech / O2 sensors what brand/type
Still going through the bird as it now has 95,000 miles. Tune up showed great improvement in drivability and set of the pants power. Reading several of threads here and elsewhere, O2 sensors seems to be next step. Napa/carquest offer a universal replacement, as well as motorcraft/ford brand Motorcraft is about 3x as much money, but i've been reading that i will get better results with factory set up. looking mostly to get fuel milage back up into the 15-18 mpg range instaed of the 12-14 mgp. Anyone have a preference either way.
