General Fox T-Bird/Cougar Discussion / Bird Hunting
I'd offer $500 and move up from there.  If you offer the $800 right up front, even if it is worth it, the owner will feel that they priced the car too low and will feel that you cheated them, even though they are the ones that set the price.  Everyone expects some degree of negotiation and the lower your starting price, combined with the closer you get to their asking price, will make the seller "feel" that they are getting the better end of the deal.

The 10th Anniversary is also available in Silver and chrome.  Depending on the hue of blue, the silver might look better, giving it just that little extra pop.

Lounge / Someone lost their mind on this one!!
This whole discussion is laughable when standards are being set based upon nothing more than rhetorical nonsense.  How many years advance notice does it take before we can set standards that require all new cars to operate on recycled elephant pee?  Is 50 years too soon? Would such lunacy also be viewed by the ignorant as a great achievement?  What exactly has been accomplished by setting a standard so high, yet no current technology can begin to achieve?

Someone deigned to mention the Chevy Volt...on a FORD site no less.  That heresy aside, lets take a look at the volt shall we?  Its range on a full overnight charge is about 25 miles, at which point it's forced to run on gasoline.  However, this isn't some featherweight automobile we are talking about.  There are about 1500 lbs. of batteries and associated electronics being hauled around.  What is wrong with that you might ask?  Well, consider the fact that when running on gasoline, real world number suggest that on the Volt's best day and under ideal cirspoogestances, when it comes to gasoline, it slurps it faster than the most heavily optioned SUV.  I know, I know...so it runs on electricity those first 25 miles right?  So how does the majority of the electricity in the United States get generated?  Can anyone say COAL... you know that shiny black stuff that the jolly old fat man leaves for naughty children?  I know, that no fair, since we should let these little inconvenient facts get in the way or anything... After all, we are trying to turn green.  A little hint for the truly stupid.  You have a better chance of turning blue than turning green... hold you breath and stamp you feet and it could happen.  Of course I suppose that if you hold your breath long enough, you would die and maybe eventually rot, thus fulfilling your dreams of recycling and becoming as green as the fresh BS some have been shoveling...

Misc Tech / 5 Minute heater core replace???
It isn't hard, it is just time consuming.  When you tare taking the dash out, take lots of pictures.  When you disconnect a harness, take a picture.  The worst and most common mistake made is trying to rely ONLY on your memory.

I personally like the look of the 10th Anniversary Cobra wheels in 18" 18x9 up front and 18x10 in the rear.  Replicas can be had in both 4 and 5 lug bolt patterns and I have seen package deals for both tires and wheels in 17" for 1149 mounted balanced and shipped to your door step.  I also like the FR500 wheel in Anthracite.

Sorry to hear about your cat, may she rest in pieces.  The good news is that you didn't get hurt and as much as it may sound like heresy in this particular venue, the cat can be replaced, but your life can't.

Audio & Other Aftermarket Electronics / car audio help???
When you say engine noise, I assume you mean the whine that increases in frequency parallel to the engine RPM.  To get rid of the engine noise, or at least minimize it, you need to make sure that your source line voltage is filtered, grounds are clean and all lines both into and out of the amp(s) are shielded.  You may also reduce some noise by using shielded spark and coil cables. Of all of these, the most important are the filtering input voltages for both head unit and the amps, followed by clean grounds. Ensuring you have clean chassis grounds is something you can easily tackle without much in the way of cost.

they break along the thin section, and in the screw hole areas... the get very brittle over time.... if black is the cheapest option, they can be painted to match the interior colors... I've also seen 1 go for around $50 on ebay before

Hmm, $50 each sounds pretty ridiculous to me.  Being textured, I would need a decent left and right piece to make the molds with.  They don't have to match (colorwise), but every unrepaired flaw in the "originals", will be present in the new parts.

Engine Tech / exhaust
Quote from: bryan163;397189
Yeah, If you are capable of extending the pipes I would buy the mustang exhaust and modify it. A few years back I had an exhaust shop build a custom exhaust and it was no where near as nice as an out of the box mustang exhaust. The crush bends can be pretty py. On top of that I also paid 4 times more:punchballs:

True, unless you find a shop that can do mandrel bends and has a portfolio demonstrating their competency at both fabrication and finish welding.

Ah, I see. Those wouldn't be difficult at all to make, though I need to make it clear that they would be made with reinforced epoxy resin.  I could probably replace the gelcoat with a color other than black, but matching interior colors without samples would be problematic. Do they need to be flexible at all or would solid be alright?  Where to they typically break?
