Suspension/Steering / no brakes!!!!
Mine was the hydraulic pump motor relay, but like any electrical problem, you need to half split as much as you can and then do a linear trace to find the culprit.  As an example, I would check the input to the Hydraulic Pump Motor Relay (T/Y) and the output (GY/R).    If the input voltage (T/Y) is not battery voltage check both sides of Fuse Link "S".  If Input (T/Y) has battery voltage and the output (GY/R) has battery voltage, then the relay relay is good and the motor itself is the likely culprit. If the input (T/Y) has battery voltage, but the output (GY/R) is not battery voltage, check the relay trigger wire (GY/Y) for battery voltage.  If 12 volts, chances are better than average that the relay is bad.  If the relay trigger wire (GY/Y) does not have battery voltage, check the ignition switch.

And then there are people who think we are strange for not being up to our eyeballs in debt ("What kind of American are you?" I have actually been asked this).

I am the kind of American that doesn't feel it necessary to stay in debt or operate in crisis mode.  You know, the kind that pays their bills with cash rather than a credit card?  The kind that helps their neighbor or friends when they need it, cause we want to, and not because someone tries to compel us to. You know, the kind of American that our forefather were... if you can't say the same, you gotta ask yourself, are you who you really want to be?

I have no idea of what the static timing is on an '86, but on the '88 5.0, the static timing(with the spout removed) is 10deg. before TDC.  This of course assumes no slop in valve train and  the cam is/was timed correctly in the first place. I know that on my '88 5.0 LX, changing the timing set and dialing in the cam changed the timing enough that you would have thought the car had been blessed with a new motor.  She ran like a stripe tailed ape, not like an HO conversion, but significant enough.

Yep, it is a relay that turns on the abs pump.  I had the very same thing happen to me while in stop and go traffic (Sevierville / Pigeon Forge , TN).  I thanked God that mine was a manual transmission and for giving me diligence in keeping things like my e-brake in proper working order.  I was able to drive her home (about 40 miles) using backroads, replace the relay and go on to work and be only about 20 minutes late.

Yeah, I can understand that.  Of course you could go with something like a black centered 10th Anniversary or FR500, with the polished lip.  If you feel that the shiny black center clashes with the rest of the trim, you could mask and shoot the centers with matte or semi-gloss clear.  The polished lips would give the car a tasteful touch of bling and would give you the ability to have polished or chrome trim elsewhere without it sticking out like a sore thumb, if that makes sense.

Cleaning the throttle body and making sure that the EGR and PCV are working correctly... and all of your emission gear for that matter, is all you can do.  Good luck!

Drivetrain Tech / Tranny Leak.....
It should take you any longer than half  day to R&R the transmission and replace the leaking seal, assuming you have the tools and space to get her up in the air far enough and safe enough to disconnect the transmission, remove the torque converter and replace the seal.  The transmission doesn't even have to come out from under the car.

To save a click:

Nice looking wheels, but with those grooves, the temptation is gonna be there to paint the grooves to match the car or silver or some other contrasting color, which is gonna border on committing a felony case of ricery. :)

I think with that eye popping blue, black centers and polished lips will look terrific, but maybe this wheel might not be the best match.  I hope that helps and I'm sure you'll make a great choice when the time comes.

Something else to think about... Without a title, one might find themselves in deep kimshe for even having her in their possession, let alone of you were to cross state lines.  Now, having said that there may be legitimate reasons for not having a title, such as the car may have been owned by someone that passed away intestate and the car is/was registered in a different state. That is clearly not the case here, because in one pic, her texas plate is visible in the back seat.

One of the easiest ways to check for a stretched or improperly installed timing chain is to take a compression test!!!

Yep, I am gonna do that too. Thanks for the reminder Tom.

Rest in peace.X

Someone is gonna miss what appeared to be straight and decent quarters, fenders, floor pans, torque boxes and trunk pan, not to mention a relatively clean doghouse (front subframe).

... and like I said before, you guy's really do know your shiznit.

We collectively know a lot about a lot of things, but have the bruises, cuts and mangles to prove it. ;)

I think we've reached the point where somebody should point out that the rules prohibit political discussion on this board.  Just sayin'.
Yeah, I think you may be right, but I would like to point out two things: First, everything we see and do has something to do with politics.  If you discusss any subject long enough, that is exactly where you are going to end up.  Secondly, does it strike anyone else as a bit odd that it was shame302 that used the phrase "liberal scam" in the first place as quoted below... emphasis mine.
