If they are so above us and our lowly Fox T-bird/Cougars with custom cupholders and trumpet horns, then why even come around here in the 1st place?  Bottom line, they are a couple of arrogant jerks.  Every thread Tom posted in turned into a convoluted MESS.  Good riddance!  Ride off into the sunset on your high horse, d-bag.

Hey, my car has (maybe) an unimpressive 230 hp and was modified by me (a "shadetree mechanic"), so its irrelevant I guess?  I came on this site around 10 years ago to learn how to wrench on these cars and make mine better and thoroughly enjoyed it up until Tom showed up.  He and he alone really soured this forum for me for quite some time.  I am hopeful it will go back to the positive and helpful atmosphere I remember back in the day.

We all need to remember that our goal should be to help each other keep these cars alive for future generations!

I also reached out last spring to simply get tom to build my youngest boys motor "toms way".
I did hear back but the replies swaged way off the topic that I never could get a yes or no.
I totally forgot to bring that up ............

after reading the FB drama, at the end of the day the Toms are right in their own right I should say.

however,

I did happen to notice that when I was having extraordinarily high level tech talk about electrical,, I couldn't get an answer.

*example... "what is the millivolt range on the shunt lead for the buttstuffog cluster ammeter?"
http://www.foxtbirdcougarforums.com/showthread.php?38452-Working-AmpMeter-people-chime-in
with that question asked so many times, and to this thread,, I can say many of us have  stumped tom Renzo on several occasions.  Many of you never noticed because your not really catching the threads.
softtouch provides the knowledge that the shunt lead is a micro-volt range.. that piece helped.
hell, I sound condescending in my posts now that I look at it.

so, at the end of the day, he did know his limitations and learned he did not know everything.
either way like I said,, I didn't mind tom... I could see he was just like the people who trained me up in the past,, it was a "shut up and listen""my way or the highway" experience that I personally think everyone (especially young bucks) need to experience.  it teaches being able to take verbal, and mental abuse ,,, many disagree but you've never been through boot camp if you do.
I get it,, yes its condescending,, yes it hurts your feels,,, yeah you get tired of the dram,,,  so what.

Oh, it was noticed.

Problem is just as you said though.  There ARE other ways in instances and stumping him just shows he's one that should not be taking the "my way or the highway" mentality.

Scott, if I wanted that, I'd start an argument with the wife.  I think it's safe to say that many people don't come here for that.  It grows tiresome.  Sure, you can put a person on ignore on a forum, but when they are a prolific poster, you lose the flow of the conversation on occasion.

The biggest thing that made me realize how much of an idiot he was, was when he brought up torque specs for worm gear clamps....  seriously?  Who the f**k would dig out a torque wrench to tighten a clamp?!?  Tom was the reason I left this board for a few years.  Oh wow they built an 8 second car.  You must be special.  I can do that with a s yard 6.0L LSX  and a Chinese gt45  turbo.

Every replace the sepentine belt on an amg wagon? No thanks. It must have been 300 feet long with about 5 belt tensioners. Turn signal on a maserati? At least 6 hours. Never did work on the bosses ferarri, but in glad i didn't. Tom can keep his $1500 bmw water pumps (have to remove the whole front engine accessories, and the thermostat is built into the PLASTIC waterpump housing) and impress and brag to all the people who don't know their ass from a hole in the ground.

Ill stick to my 10 minute $5 thermostat.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

All else I can say is...thanks...prolific thanks to whomever took the trash out.

And that I'm glad to see some "legacy" screen names back in here.

It seems Tom works out of his own garage, and then he and junior work for some sort of "custom" shop. Tom's own garage consists of the standard repair stuff...on his FB page I saw a pt cruiser, a sable, and some other...most decidedly NOT exotic cars.

No idea what they do at the custom shop, nor do I give a rat's fat ass. I'll stick to my beater Mustangs, my beater Mountaineer, and not have to worry scratching a 10,000 dollar paint job because I decided to take my shiznit to the timber to cut wood.

I'm done here, but again, I reiterate....I'm glad the shiznit is behind us and some original folks are filtering back around.

Yeah I think you are correct, but we can always hope she makes a entrance again, if nothing else someone may need something welded...

I believe she finally junked her T-Bird due to reoccurring rust issues...
