Funny man 347Thunder. Funny man.

I want to talk to you some time to see how you set up your spray pattern and fluid/ air s on your guns. Your paint looks so flat.

no matter how rough it comes out you can always wet sand it out just takes time. I use 1200 then 2000 but I take out all of the orange peel (EVERY LITTLE SPOT is the key)then buff, buff and then machine glaze with a 3m foam pad

True, true. That's pretty much what I do. Except I rarely ever try to get it completely flat. I always manage to sand through somewhere when I try that.  Amateur mistakes.

I've been screwing around with a couple ways of getting gamepad controls to mount down in the console and look good. I had one version that looked decent and was inset to the console, but I was going to have to re-do all the seat and window control mounts. Decided against it in the end.

After killing many hours trying to perfect a v 2.0,  I have just temporarily velcroed the chopped up pad to the ashtray area after removing the ashtray lid. I painted the whole thing satin black and I'm just going to use it for a while to see how many controls I actually will need in real life use.

My thinking now is to get a Griffin Powermate or Logitech NuLOOQ and mount it over the ashtray. It's time to leave this and press on, though.

I am pro keyboard. On my computers the only time I really use the mouse is when I'm online. Think it comes from the dos and windows 3.1 days though.

I would go with these mini ps2 usb keyboards and a trackball if I wanted to keep it small. If your using a touchscreen, don't even bother with a mouse, and get a tiny usb keyboard. I think that would come in hand while your tuning, and you can find lots of small bluetooth keyboards too.

I always wanted to mount my computer infront of the rear wheel, under the panel and armrest by the rear seat. Nice big empty spot there, and the wires can be run very easily to the trunk or speakers.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

Agreed.... a keyboard is a necessity at times.  Megasquirt tuning is a perfect example. I wouldn't want to have to use one while driving, though. The touchscreen is OK for some things, but it's a bit awkward to be reaching over to for some of the things I want to do while driving. I'm hoping that a combination of touchscreen, voice control, and a single input device will do for 90% of it. I won't know until I get it on the road and play around with it. What seems good on the desktop may not be so good in the car.

I am down to the last few wires before I can fire up the electronics.

I want to get it all going one time before carpet goes back in.

Good deal. I was just curious, and wanted to share what I would do. Obviously you will set it up the way you would want it done. I mainly intended mine to be used while I was not driving, or as a giant mp3 player. So I would have just used keyboard short cuts to skip songs, and wanted a full keyboard/touchpad. When I designed the carputer, I was still in high school and spent a lot of time driving my freinds around for gas money. I spent quite a bit of time in the car waiting for someone to get off work, ect.

Yep. What I've found so far is that once you get past the basics of say, navigation and music you get into features unique to each person's whims and desires as well as personal needs. That is what makes installing a 'set' system  a little scary. It's hard to be sure just what you are gonna like for sure. (Or absolutely hate!)

This is something I've wanted to do for a while, and I'm having fun with it no matter how it turns out.

What do you know!  All systems go for installing carpet and seats. Everything works and the HD radio is crystal clear!  I was really careful about what was grounded where, and that may have helped.

My son was doing some tricking and recording it to his camera. When he was taking a break I had him pop out his memory card and insert it into the card reader next to the center support and play it through the Tbird media center. Worked like a champ!

He really liked the trunk lid popping open by remote. He said "Dad, old cars aren't supposed to do this!" LOL

It's nice to have a fan.

I would love to watch someone tune in the car with a built in carputer. I actually wanted to use the computer to roll up and down the windows, then decided that would suck if the computer went down. Getting everything to work right and iron out the kinks is a good bit of work alone.

Hope your getting a good sequrity system, where you will leave it parked for some time.

I have security, just not something for web review! The car will only be unattended for a long stretch at the hangar, and we are secure there. Gated entrance, security badges, and video monitoring. I leave stuff in the car there unlocked all the time.

The fact is that a majority of audio guys will have more in their sound systems than I will in this.

The display is all that is out in the open, and it is 'only' $175 ish. I'd be more upset about what they'd do to the car getting it out than the cost of replacing it.

I am working on the carpet and seats now. I had to move the Baumann from where I thought it would fit, so it took some time. There's VERY little room under the full power seats.

If I had to do it over I'd be mounting the Baumann in the drivers side panel next to the rear seat and the  Megasquirt and fuse panel behind the passengers side panel.

I am not happy with how exposed the MS will be in the end. I intend to make a modified kick panel to extend out around it. Time to do a little 'glassing. That can wait, though. I am hoping to get it inspected, plated, tires and windshield in by Thanksgiving.

We'd love to have you over!

Who knows, maybe we can get the cars to a meet sometime.

This car is kind of a 'catch-all' for all the stuff I think is cool.

Sleeper look, check. Lots of power, check. 2 sets of clubs in the back, check. Luxury class comfort, check. Decent handling, check. Computer toys, check. Enough customization to make it mine, check. 25 mpg, ??????, hopefully a check.

It won't be great at anything, but hopefully covers a lot of these bases pretty solidly.
