So it looks like you have the rear of the car wrapped up.  Exciting!  The taillights, bumper cover and trunk w/lock looks great.

And it looks like you have the door window trim, channels and mirrors on!  You have the hood lined up and on too.  Are the front fenders permanently on?

You are getting so close to having the exterior wrapped up.  I hope you have a productive day.

Well, not quite all that. The rear bumper cover is just hanging there, I still have to bolt on the support.

The window trim is mostly on, but I am wanting to pick up some gooey sealer to use in the channel of the seals when I put them on for good. Likewise, I ran out of strip caulk and still need to seal and remount the quarter windows.

I am going to pull the fenders off today to finish up the front suspension work.
There's a broken sway bar link to replace, and I have new struts and strut mounts to install. I have a new set of sway bar bushings to install too.

(I am not a fan of poly bushings, and am staying with OEM quality rubber. I have used poly on some of my cars in the past and found that they wore out too fast and ruined the ride in some cases.)

I'll leave the passenger side inner fender off until I set the turbocharger turbine sleeve where I want it. I need to do some full throttle blasts to get it set right.

Possibly I could cut an access panel into the inner fender panel so I can get to it easily later on. I'll see how hard it is to install the plastic and decide.

I worked on the doors a bit before work yesterday. I wanted to test the power locks and windows before I went too far. The locks wouldn't work at first. :(

I was getting a faint click on one relay but little else. Looked at the schematic and saw that the Bl/W wires weren't powered. Ended up being the connecter at the fuse panel wasn't fully snapped in.

Similarly I wasn't getting the fuel door or trunk release to work, and that was resolved by securing the connecters on the pasengers side kick panel area.

Once those issues were sorted I did get one door lock installed. I'm about to mount the door handles and the other lock.

Groovy. :)

:)

Boy, your 83 has a great look. Wheels, ride height, rear scoops. It all works really well together.

Door handles are on. Quarter windows in for good, as are the door seals and kick plates.

I really like the capscrews I got from Fastenal. They worked great. I just had to open up the holes slightly in the handle and the door to pass the 5/16" stud size.

Passed my FAA physical, so I guess I'm healthy. :roxor:

Worked on blacking out the side bird emblems and rear badges. Mounted it all and I like the look.

Should I black out the front bird? It is still in nice shape, but I I'm not sure. I left the birds in the taillights chrome.

ooooh.  i like the blacked out look!  I'd keep the front bird chrome to match the taillights.  Man the car is coming together!

I'm so glad you are healthy!  That way you can finish your project. :)

Thanks man! It's going to be great fun when I can  finally do some real tuning to see what this combo has in it. Maybe in a couple weeks if all goes to plan.

HEY....... I got an email from the place with the rear window trim clips. I was going to order some today. Should I get some for you and send them to you?  They are $1.00 each just so you know.

Yeah, I really like the black on the car.  I was hoping the bird emblems would still look OK without any contrast in the wings, but I think it works just fine on this silver car.

I am leaning towards a chrome nose bird as well. I can always black it out later if I want to.

I stopped at Jo Ann Fabrics to get headliner. Turns out they only stock black, dark blue and tan. :barf: Gonna place an order today for some light gray material online.

It's time to get that new windshield in. I don't want to have the windshield guy stain/rip the headliner so I want to get it done first.

Well, it's time to fire up the bead cabinet and clean up the windshield and r. window trim for paint.

I will be driving this car some time in November. Probably before Thanksgiving I would say.

I have decent luck with THESE GUYS for the headliner stuff.  I've bought stuff for 3-4 cars, and it's always quick.  Their adhesive works pretty well, too.

Clips are ordered thewestie.

The reason they didn't know about that number when you called is that it may be from a different supplier than usual. I think you have to ask for Jeff.

I ended up working on fitting the passenger door for a LONG time today. I eventually got it to fit pretty decently. All the black trim is now done. Got the wiper motor and transmission cleaned up and installed. Installed the washer bottle and hoses.

After I worked on the door I found that the Megasquirt wasn't working right. While I was pounding on the hinge I ruined the capacitor I had hard mounted right behind the hinge. :(

It took me a little while to figure out what was wrong. I kept blowing fuses for MS and it checked out on the bench, so the problem had to be in between the power and the computer.

I just bypassed the darn thing for now and it's working fine. I'll see if I get any spikes or resets by datalogging. If it acts OK I'll just keep using it like this.

Will do. I'll wait and see how much shipping costs, then let you know.

Thanks, I actually like trouble shooting as long as I don't have a time constraint. Some things take me longer to figure out than others.
