flylear, the paint looks great!  I like the silver!  Is it the factory silver or some other blend?

Good idea. Good to get that out of the way now, before its too late and you gotta paint it again. I need to do something about my trunk. Prolly gonna end up doing the whole seam cause I can't actually figure out WHERE the leak is.

Thanks.

My first bird leaked into the rear seat footwell from somewhere and it drove me crazy. I'm hoping to avoid that kind of thing, since my cars will sit at the airport for a week at a time outside.

roof looks mint

It came out nice. I put an extra wet coat on it so I could sand and buff it.

I used a new gun with the clear and it puked something out into the paint, but I am sure after a little 1200 and a buff pad it'll be up to the standard.

Did you end up getting window clips from those guys in PA?

Thanks! It looks good in sunlight. It's supposed to be the factory mix from code 14. That was what was on the door frame sticker.

(Clips) I called and they never heard of the part # The women said take a pic and email it to her and she'd match something up. I also went to a local glass co and got some that were close. Still searching though.

Thanks cougarman. I got a run in front of the fuel door somehow. I think it's because I filled the gun about then and forgot where I left off exactly. I should have re-filled after going past the trunk. No biggy. I'll sand and buff it and it'll be fine. Otherwise it is looking decent.

Today was windy and there is more trash in the paint than last time. I wasn't going to wait for a better day. At least it quit raining!

The parts left to paint are the top of the trunk and hood, the fuel door and the side trim strips. It's getting closer to being able to start to put it together finally!

Yea, I got a couple quarter panel runs, the hose kept snagging on stuff...lol. Just in the clearcoat though.

Spent this morning sanding clear and buffing. I was surprised how nice it sands with 1200 after just drying overnight. The 1200 marks come right out with a single pass on the buffer, too.

Got 3/4 of the body done. I caught myself feeling pen 15y so I'm taking a break before I get careless and burn an edge.

The run in the quarter is 99.2 % gone. At this point I may just leave it alone. I am afraid I'll break through the clear if I keep going, and it looks pretty good.

There are a few places where bugs (tiny gnats) got in the clear, and some dirt that won't completely sand out. All in all it is looking very acceptable!

Just have the drivers door to buff out and I can put the wheels back on it , pull off  the paper and drive it into the front garage so I can get the last of this stuff in paint.

XXXWell..... I had to make a late night run to Summit. I didn't get enough clear to finish everything. Of course I didn't figure this out until an hour or so ago. :punchballs:

Hopefully this clear matches mine OK. We'll see!

I just got the first coat of clear on the hood, trunklid, fuel door, NACA scoops, and roof strips. Just have to wait a few more minutes to get the second coat on. Tomorrow I'll do the side moldings and be done with painting!

EDIT:

Finished the clear

Your car looks fantastic. I just hope my junk will look presentable after all this!

I am pretty happy with the paint job so far. I haven't seen any body work that shows and I don't see any dings or waves that I missed. Usually there is something that shows up after clearing. I'm glad I took the extra time to really make it right.

I may have waited too long to sand and buff the fenders and rear cover where it is dry. If the clear is too hard I'll hit them with 600 and 1000 wet, then re-clear them.

First off today will be to get the hood and trunk buffed and to try to get the side moldings done.
