Believe me, i know the that lurks behind that upper brace lol.
I cut mine off about 4-5" from the fender lip with a dremel and removed the piece as it is only held on with foamy glue/1 spot weld.

Had some fun today. Primed the other side, and hood.

Then I gave my wife some spraying lessons.

back to the car.....

next up.... are the front fenders. Then everything will be at the same stage of the project.

Be careful when you're priming.You're going to mess up those fine looking wheels and tires.LOL.

Someday, it'd be really neat to come up your way, stop by for a visit, maybe even a beer or two...but I want to sleep in your garage.
I can provide my own cot and blanket. lol

I really wish I had the skills to do that kind of work to my car..
