All this over a 5.0 converted TC............................sigh

No, to me it's about being treated like I'm not entitled to an opinion.

And for the record I never said anything about the car that was anything close to calling it a sack of shiznit. I can't speak for other people. I even said I was in love with the car until I saw what was done to it.

To me it's about showing respect.  You can disagree with someone and still show respect.

There is a much better way to have replied to this thread.  Here, check this out:

"That's a really clean, nice car, but I would personally have kept the 2.3."

Unfortunately, most replies were more like this:

"Wow that car is BULLshiznit without the 2.3."

It has nothing to do with having a different opinion, just the way of sharing it.

Also, what do you think is going to happen to all those nice TC's you see on Ebay? Some guy is going to try 'sumpthin differnt' and toss a 302 in it and claim to crack cold fusion with his efforts.

Or maybe a Cadillac 500, or Ford 460 or Ford 351?

The reason I came to this forum is because there's all kind of good people here that apreciated these cars.  I still think they are the last American built hot rod and best built.  I started out over the at the Turbo board and they did not like me at all.  I guess that's why there's so many forums on the web.

How did this get to so many pages?

Well, you're right.  You didn't call the CAR a sack of shiznit, but you did CALL THE OWNER AN ASSHOLE (which is even worse):

Quote from: oldraven;153158
What an asshole.[/i] I was in love until I saw what was under the hood. He even had the gall to put an SVO sticker (or whatever that is) on the rad.

I'm going to go mow the lawn and try to forget what I just saw.

Kinda funny since you're saying hes an asshole for doing what he wants to his car (whatever is cool IN HIS OPINION), which completely contradicts your whole "not entitled to an opinion" argument.

So like I said, give respect and you'll recieve it.  You got REALLY angry at my earlier comment, which pretty much treated you the same way you treated the owner of that car.  It sucks being on the other end, doesnt it?

its too bad the 18 year old kid has more sense than half of you. to say the car is hacked and whatnot is ignorant. id be willing to bet this car would bring more as it sits than if it was 100% stock. even if not, we dont throw money at or cars for a return. take the fricken money out of the equasion. sure thers a hundred turbo coupes out there with 5.0s swapped in em'. this one is still unique and rare. you will probably NEVER see such a fine example out there. certainly you will never find one as close to a factory 5.0 HO car. why cant you respect it as a whole. its a freaking amazing car reguardless of what powers it. imo, this is absolutely the most perfect 87-88 tbird ive ever seen. it wouldnt inttrest me nearly as much if it was stock. this think has a story man. someone loved this car very much. mind you thiswas done when the car was what, 3-4 years old. id say who would have guesed these cars wpould be so rare but they arent. someone happned to have deep enough pockets and took a basically new car and dropped a very modern drivetrain in it. some of you say oh just another 5.0 HO turbo coupe but put yourself back in 91 when the fricken car was built. it wasnt nearly as common then as it is now and half of us swap left over mustang junk into shiznitboxes. if any of you cant look at this thing and see that its amazing just in condition and documentation alone theres something wrong with you.

Thanks CougarSE we really needed that. I'm sorry to have offended anyone. Just trying to state my opinion sorry if I was unclear. I will try to improve my efforts to be less of such the SOB that I am. I guess since it has stopped raining and I can go out and work I will. I'm also sorry if I unintentional bashed on someones car. I have no excuse for my actions other than that. Once again sorry to have pissed off everyone and make something happen around here on a rainy day here in the Ozarks. But we did get alot of attention and learned that people can get way pissed off at each other for no good rason. I know it has happen before here and things will get back to normal alot sooner that at other site. Sorry once again.

Yeah I can get caught up in the moment and say stuff I don't normally say, and I apologize for that, but I still stand by my ideas and comments about respect and being open minded towards other peoples' cars.

And like shame said, sometimes people tend to get so caught up with one part of the car that they dont see how amazing the car is as a whole.

All that work APPEARS to have been done when the car was 4 yrs old, and yes 5k miles on the ticker. Isn't that called "Individuality" (sp)????????? I too came here because of the "Nice" people and that everyone appeared to enjoy what other people had done to their cars, how they modded (customized) them to their own tastes. I don't go to Corral.net any more (other than to look for parts for my DOHC)or to the NASA road racing website, because they hated me for not having a Stang. I shouldn't say anymore because of my "Forbidden" engine swap; suspension swap; future dash swap. My car was a 2.3 powered T/C but in due time it will be a 4.6 DOHC T/C (yes I'll be putting TT on it)
My point is, when that forbidden swap was done to that pristine T/C, there where probably several hundred thousand of them running around, with the probablilty of the work being done at a dealership, the engine could have been a factory crate engine, and the availablity of all the associated parts were readily available. Also, the owner might have like the looks of a T/C over a Sport or whatever was available then. That's why I bought my T/C. I liked the front b/c and grill better than the chrome grills and the plain b/c, what I didn't like was only having half an engine. I had never had a 4cyl car before and just didn't like it. I prefered the rumble of V8's.
Before I had started my the DOHC/IRS transformation on my T/C, I got into an argument with a local shop owner for swapping the front suspension on my car. He told me that I should have never "Messed with it" and that I should return it to stock condition before bringing it back to him for an alignment.  Needless to say, I told him what he could do with "Never mess with it" comment and took my car somewhere else.

But, I had better post this and leave with my 4.6DOHC; 03" Cobra IRS; modified 86' T/C tail tucked before I get........well......yelled at.

John

P.S.  It's just funny (not!) how people can get so worked up over someone else building (or having built) a car they like.  Yes, everybody is entitled to their opinion, but to call names. I thought we all were grown ups.

I'm thinking we should change the name of this forum to corral.net or some other Mustang-based name, the way people have been bickering over foolishness lately...
