I took the bird up to Lebanon Valley Dragway in NY on Saturday. Ran a best of 14.02@ 98mph. I was running 3.45 gears, 7.5 rear with trac lok, bald all season street tires, and about 7 pounds of boost on my stock SO motor with a Powerdyne blower. I have a TCI AOD with a 3000 stall converter. I had to launch very gently. Car has full interior, sub box, and trailer hitch.

A shot from the staging lanes:

A 2.0 60' is better than my best, which is 2.2, which sucks :hick:.

How do you launch and how were your tires? I'm surprised because I had to roll onto the throttle with my bald drift tires. I used my left foot to hold the brake while i tried to hold around 1300 rpm. Any more and it would get sideways and kill the times. The freshly rebuilt trac-lok must have helped. I have since bought a set of used drag radials on craigslist and am almost done converting from supercharged to a turbo. If its ready by saturday im gonna head back to the track. I really want those 13s!

One foot on the brake, one hovering over the gas, engine at idle. Third yellow comes on and I lift my left foot off the brake and slam my right foot to the floor. It usually results in wheel slippage/sideways action. This is on 225/55/16 Firestone Firehawks. I haven't run with the new heads yet (only with the GT40Ps) but I'm pretty sure they are going to make things worse. I'm hoping to get to the track next Friday night to find out :).

I used to use that same technique with similar results. You should try my new method. It seems to be working better.

No, no, no, not even on drag radials...

Even on street tire I roll through the water, burn them to dry and roll SLOWLY to the line to cool the tires and pickup some traction compound... When staged, I hold brake, bring the revs to around 1200-1500, release the brake on last yellow and roll into the throttle... How quickly will determine on multiple factors, you'll have to learn your car...

Using the above, I've pulled best of 1.87 with the Marauder on the factory BFGs and 1.89 - 1.91 are easy...

Thats pretty much how I was launching, but I drive around the water and skip the burnout when I'm on street tires.

Thats pretty quick on motor! I'm planning on going back next week. I put in a turbo and got some drag radials so i should hopefully be getting a new personal best too.
