5.8 Fastcat #2 Winter Work Reply #136 – February 08, 2007, 01:48:44 AM So long as you are willing to cut and weld a bit (edit: the rear hangars on Mustang tailpipes don't work so you have to cut them off and weld tabs onto the tips to hang the tailpipes) Quote Selected

5.8 Fastcat #2 Winter Work Reply #139 – February 09, 2007, 12:07:07 AM Greg, I've been watching this thread with alot of interest, and I gotta say the car is lookin great! I've been in the planning stages for this spring to do some rotissere work myself, but I have a question. Was there any concerns/problems/issues with leaving the front and rear windows on the car? I didn't want to remove the windows, but was concerned there might be issues with the windows either poppping out, cracking, or seals pulling apart that could cause leaking. I will be welding in subframe connectors before turning the chassis to minimize twisting though. What are your thoughts? Quote Selected
5.8 Fastcat #2 Winter Work Reply #140 – February 11, 2007, 01:34:08 AM I would weld the subframe connectors 1st. I left the frt and rear glass in my car. I also left the doors on while it was on the rotessier. Hope this helps.:D Quote Selected
5.8 Fastcat #2 Winter Work Reply #141 – February 11, 2007, 01:51:10 PM Fastcat with your 351 what afr heads did you use? When i build my 351 up i wanted a set, not sure which ones will give the best performance for street strip use. Not gonna turbo/supercharge mine though, i just want a bad ass small block chevy killer. And i can't wait to see that thing done man tis gonna be sweet! Quote Selected
5.8 Fastcat #2 Winter Work Reply #142 – February 11, 2007, 11:19:18 PM I used the AFR205 heads. If I was going to build a naturally asprited 351 I would use the 185's. The 205's would kill the low end without a poweradder. Thanks, Trying to get the dash and interior back in. I'll post pic when I get some more done. Quote Selected
5.8 Fastcat #2 Winter Work Reply #143 – February 12, 2007, 09:07:59 AM thanks I apreciate that, yea i want to be able to run it all N/A so i can have a small block from hell, 408w stroker Quote Selected
5.8 Fastcat #2 Winter Work Reply #144 – February 13, 2007, 02:17:12 PM 408's are block eaters. The rod ratio makes them relly hard on the blocks. Short life. Go with a 393 or a 383 windsor. Just my 2 cents Quote Selected
5.8 Fastcat #2 Winter Work Reply #145 – February 13, 2007, 02:30:19 PM 15ci makes that big of difference? i thought i was playing it safe staying away from a 427w stroker, i heard they could be stroked out that much. i guess ill do a 393 then. How much power do you think it would push with just being stroked, and the mods in my sig? Quote Selected

5.8 Fastcat #2 Winter Work Reply #148 – February 13, 2007, 10:02:44 PM LOL!! You're not even close! I'd guess somewhere between 280-320 rwhp depending on cam. 700cfm isn't flowing that much HP. For comparison my last AMC was this:360, stock dog-leg heads (outflowing your ported heads by a lot), Performer Air-Gap, Reed flat-tappet cam, stock bottom end (8.5:1, fresh rings/bearings and ARP rod bolts), 780cfm Carter, Hooker long tubes, etc. put down about 350HP to the wheels with a 727 Torqu-Flite trans. That engine is 9ci up on you, larger bore, better heads, bigger valves, and a bigger carb. I highly doubt you're anywhere over 300 without a truely radical cam, and it sounds like a plain, low duration, low-lift, flat-tappet one to me. Quote Selected
