1980 -82 AOD is optional with the 302 only. C4 is standard, AOD becomes standard for V8s in 83

Super cool ride....best of the panthers....

Are you going to mod it?

I have read....that CAI, good exhaust, gear, and tune really wake those up....good score on the 04....better tranny.

Travis

CAI, Exhaust & an alternative performance tune would be nice, it's gonna be a daily so i'm intent on keeping it mostly stockish. 4:10's alone are supposed to make it a totally different animal but I drive 90% highway so that'd just kill MPG, (22-23 MPG so far).

So far after driving it for a week I really like it. It really floats on the highway @ 70 but you feel way more planted than my Police Interceptor did. I got lucky, it looks like whoever owned it JUST replaced the air shocks, they look brand new.

I'm so not used to Overdrive transmissions, i still get a little drop in my stomach when it kicks down super low at 30-40 mph lol. C4 and C6 ftw.

Boy what a busy few months!

I don't really post too often & haven't really done anything new with the BoxFox since it got cold, but I couldn't resist showing off the new car!

2004 Mercury Marauder 84k miles, was in Texas its whole life until December then was traded in to CarMax in Dayton & ended up at the Cincinnati store where I work. I just happened to be outside when it pulled into our wholesale line. I put my name on it first & within 10 minutes at least half of the service department was pouring all over it lol.

It sure beat my previous Police Interceptors inside & out. :D

Ok, so work took off and I havent had two seconds to touch this car but I started day dreaming about paint options. So far I have 3:

Option 1: stock red. Easy, too easy

Option 2: I have 2 gallons of Aerospace paint that we used to paint interior of jet engines and their vanes, this stuff is  near chip & scratch proof once it dries and i think the aerospace/ thunderbird connection would be pretty neat. I would want to add some SC ground effects and maybe a set of window louvers after seeing the bird in Jade Thinking about all that brought to...

Option 3: USAF Thunderbird style paint job. Something along the lines of the special paint job these guys have on their jets. I think it could look pretty cool, but it'd be a fine line between cool and tacky.

This the paint for option 2

General Fox T-Bird/Cougar Discussion / A pretty rewarding moment for me
Today i got off work early and didn't have much to do, so I decided to take the BoxFox down to Kentucky and show the (never) finished product to the older couple I bought it from. I'm the 2nd registered owner & it was his dads car that he bought new in late '79, when his dad died in '83 it went into the garage and only had 1,000 miles put on it between then & march 2013 when I bought it.

I pulled up and they both came out and poured all over the car and told me how proud his dad would be. He looked at me and said he had two or three people look at it before me and was really hoping that whoever bought didn't just gut it and s the shell, they drove it around the neighborhood for the first time since 1986. It felt really good to show them something that was pretty far gone when i got it and is now a reliable and presentable automobile, It was also pretty nice to see a reaction that wasn't just look at the weird kid in his ugly orange & brown car lol. I talked to them for a good two hours about everything imaginable, he worked for GM for 23 years & then Ford for 11 and had a 6 inch thick photo album of all kinds of different cars he & his dad had owned from the 50's up to now. Just really super nice & accomodating people which is just something you dont see anymore, couldn't've been a better day for an old car owner.

Also on the way home I hit 58k miles, hoping to keep it under 60 for a while, working to get the 92 bird up and running to be my daily car.

Wow that sucker is rough for those miles.  Douche out the interior and throw a quick paint job (flat black?) and you've got a good driver!

That's exactly what i was thinking, the carpet is destroyed but everything else will clean up very nicely, I'm gonna get the fuel pump in sometime this weekend hopefully and then see just how rough the brake lines are.

Well next year is supposed to be Thunderbird and GT40 centric, which I think is a weird combo but ok lol. I was there all day on Friday but had to leave because my hotel overbooked and i couldn't get a new one that wasn't something out of Vacancy.

I've never been on the turnpike before, some of the views as you get up to the tunnels are gorgeous, especially since it was right at sunrise. but the whole no exits for 25-35 miles is annoying. I blew a rad. hose and had to go 15 miles on a rigged hose and almost no water.

T-Bird/Cougar Parts & Cars FOR SALE / 1980 Tbird part out.
Parting out the parts car, no title, 70 something miles on it, AOD is bad (but it'll still move on its own) master cylinder/booster is bad, 302 sounds good (will need an oil pan; oversized pan bolts 7/8s!!). Interior is in pretty good shape less the carpet, seats are a little faded but presentable, plastics aren't cracked, dash has no cracks but is very faded (Bordello red cloth). I bought it for the doors, headlight doors and hood, California car so no rust. most chrome trim is in good shape.

just pm me with whatever you need parts or whole.

Thank you

1992 Thunderbird 302

Pics tomorrow, going to pick it up then. 40k and original owner but its quite rough. Bad fuel pump, rusted brake line and the interior needs a SERIOUS douching but she is quite loaded, V8, premium sound, ATC, leather, fog lights. I'm not quite sure what im gonna do with it yet but for 400 bucks i don't think i could go wrong :hick:
