like the off road ones. just wondering if i will still be able to have a conversation in the car with them.

and on one hand. my dad is kinda good for the legal stuff.  he's in the Air force and used to be a cop so some stuff that isnt legal wont sit very well.  but at the same since arkansas doesnt have an emissions test I'm unsure if he'll go with it.

heres teh mustang website i've been using for cat back and exhaust reference.  any where cheaper? or about the average.

If you don't have emissions checks (we don't in Oklahoma),you'll be fine with an off road pipe (no cats).,and yes,you can have a conversation in the car.The X-Pipe really doesn't make the car loud (they do add a nice tone),the lers do more of that.I think you won't be happy with the loudest lers you can find.they really get old after a while if you drive the car a lot.

ya i dont want teh loudest thing out there. but just something loud enough to sound real agressive and scare children that has a good tone as normal speeds.

If i buy a cat back kit from that site or just a full X pipe cat back kit from slp it should come with everything needed correct? bung, sensors and all?

The sensor bungs are already there on the aftermarket parts.A full kit should have what you need, but if you look around, you can get some great used parts that are in fine shape and save a ton of cash.Check the Corral forums. There's a LOT of parts there.......they are Stang guys.....bless their hearts.LOL. Again, you will need headers.,and I repeat, take your time.If you get in a hurry, you'll more than likely regret it.

so would i also absolutely need the mustang headers for the set up to work if i wanna get the SLP loudmouth kit from that site. or should it work alright with my stock cougar headers.

also. on that website. there are 2 versions of the SLP loudmouth 1 cat-back system there is one for a mustang GT and one for a LX i believe.

I dont wanna do any huge performance mods yet. just something to make it sound better and have fun with.

The LX has different tips, the rest should be the same as the GT.Yes,you need headers.Aftermarket kits will not bolt up to the cast iron factory exhaust manifolds. And with the manifolds, why try to build a great exhaust. The iron manifolds will be the bottle neck of it all.Just buy headers.I've seen factory 5.0 headers sell for about $40.00 shipped. They are cheap and plentiful.Aftermarket headers are cheap for used ones if you shop around.Don't get desperate to get this done.Do it right the first time.

k thanks for the advice and info.

lol k so just to make sure im not missing anything.
even if i buy that SLP system from the site, they wont bolt to my sotck headers so i'll need to get 87 5.0 mustang headers 1st.

so check list.
1987 Mustang stock headers from a 5.0 (A must for set up to work)
1987-93 SLP loudmouth kit.

get those 2 things and take it to a shop to weld it all on.

however on the site the SLP system is not a X or H set up.

would it be a better plan to just get the mustang headers, buy an aftermarket x pipe and then the SLP resonators. or should th SLP system still be as loud as the X pipe.

lol sorry if this is getting a lil frustrating. just a little confused about how to go about getting the sound im looking for.

I just thought i could buy the SLP resonators and have the shop bend me a cat back X pipe and call it a day i have the sound i want.

the local shop also sells flowmaster, borla and bassani products.

The headers can come from an '86 to '93 Mustang 5.0.The H or X pipe is a bolt on.The mid pipes....those are the pipes between the lers and H or X Pipe will have to lengthened, and the tail pipes will also have to be lengthened a few inches. The H or X pipes bolts to the headers, and the mid pipes bolt to the H or X-pipe,then the mid pipes are welded to the lers as are the tail pipes.I am usually not a fan of ler shop bent pipes. Most don't have the smooth mandrel bent ptipes as the aftermarket, and charge more over all than aftermarket parts.Go aftermarket.if you don't have the funds, save up until you do.

alrighty. thanks vinnie. so just to clearify the check list.

I need.
87-93 mustang 5.0 headers  (gaskets aswell?)
and a aftermarket X or H pipe
SLP loudmouth resonators  (unless i get the aftermarket SLP loudmouth kit.)

Correct?

so im thinking maybe after i get the headers, possibly go with a X pipe from bassani, mac or something and just get the SLP loudmouth resonators and have the shop put it all together.
Yes?

You'll also need tail pipes.And by resonators,I assume you're talking about lers,right?

yes just eh slp lers. (hearing everyone callin the same thing by a different name.)

thank you for being so patient and advising.
please correct me if i miss anything.
to get the SLP loudmouth sound i want with a cat back x pipe i need to get the following.

Check list.
87-90 mustang 5.0 header and gaskets.
catback X pipe system from bassani, flowmaster, etc.  Or just get the SLP loudmouth kit.

if i do not get the SLP kit.  choose a X pipe maker and get the SLP loudmouth lers.
get exhaust tips to clean it up.

take everything to a shop to be installed.

DONE!.  Correct?

lol wow, alot more to this than i thought. I figured i could just get teh ler and have them weld it on and be done and i'll have the sound i want. or have them bend me some x piped to my stock setup and then add teh lers.

but guess i'll get started on finding some mustang 5.0 headers and gaskets.

seems like you dont understand what those kits are
the SLP kit is a CAT BACK exhaust system, that means its mid pipes, lers(or resonators) and the tails. The difference between LX and GT slp kits are only the polished SS tips
IF you dont replace the stock y pipe with a X pipe or H pipe, then you DONT need headers.
If you want to replace the y pipe, then you need Headers and a x or h pipe, THEN you also need a FULL cat back.
