I have (Stang parts) BBK shorty headers,Pypes off road X-Pipe,lengthened mid pipes (it's a must, our cars are longer in the middle),40 series Flowmasters, and mandrel bent 2 1/2 inch Stang tail pipes (also lengthened, our cars are longer out back as well). All easy to install, and the lengthening of the pipes is simple work to any quality ler shop.

Hey Vin, I am pretty sure on my exhaust the only thing I lengthened was the tailpipes.  Not sure what was different?

I have BBK shorty headers, BBK off road H-pipe, Pypes Violator lers, and Pypes tailpipes.  Its pretty loud. I bolted everything up, hung it with some old coat hangers to get to the exhaust shop and then had them lengthen the tailpipes.

would there be any significant loss or gain in the matter of either getting an X pipe then the SLP lers .  vs just getting the SLP brand set up with everything?

any benefit in th eheaders as to if they're long tubes or shorty's

Thanks alot for all the help and advice guys. and thanks for baring with me.

well you stated you wanted sound not really performance so I set you up witht he parts to get a ok performing, great sounding system. I mean if you want to go all out, thats a different story, and I owuld choose different lers. SLP's are VERY obnoxious on a catless car. I mean I have a local guy with a kit on hsi 02 gt and I can hear him round 2- 1 1/2 miles away when hes getting on it...

Check out the coolcats.net write up on the duel exhaust conversion on there. Think about what you actually want out of the car and watch youtube clips of mustangs to get the sound you want. You might bet better off with a $20 cherry bomb and some exhaust clamps then the hundreds you might spend on exhaust work.

If you are going to buy a whole system, get one for a LX mustang. Buy a kit that is all bolt together and hang it all under the car. If it needs lengthened, you can do that in the autozone parking lot, or go to a shop and have them finish it off.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

You may need to adjust the positioning of the linkage where it bolts to the frame.
