The engine,as I've said, only had 30,xxx miles on it.Everything was in seriously clean, near perfect shape. There was NO buildup of any kind inside. The inside of the valve covers, and the heads in general underneath the covers looked new.I left the short block alone, added a new timing chain (double roller),and the heads were ported and I picked them up yesterday.I SHOULD have the heads bolted on tomorrow, and if time is on my side,a little more. The timing cover is also painted Ford blue and the water pump will be left natural aluminum. I am debating on painting the lower intake blue or leaving it natural aluminum.I've had the Cobra lower for a few years in it's natural state, but was thinking something a little different may be in order.Pics on my decision soon.

Leave the lower alone.

Im not a fan of Ford blue blocks as it is but I think with the intake painted too it will be overkill. $.02

I had thought that as well (painted lower being overkill),but, with an EFI engine, there's so much else above that, polished upper intake,CAI,injectors, fuel rail, harness, etc, that I am thinking it might look O.K.. I have to think first, because IF I paint it,once it's done,it's done.I won't be bead blasting it back to original again.Plus,if it's painted,it'll be a little bit different than everyone else with a Cobra style intake.....or any EFI intake for that matter.I want nice, but I don't want to have something like everyone else has.

Take blue food coloring and put it in a spray bottle and shoot it with that to test if you like it or not. :hick:

Just so you know my heads, block, oil pan, timing cover, lower intake, and upper intake are all Ford blue. My water pump is natural finish. So if you paint everything Ford blue except the water pump and upper intake you will basically have a duplicate of the paint scheme on my engine. Hell we'll even have the same Cobra valve covers except mine are black crinkle with polished fins and yours are fully polished ;)

There you go.Mine will have (if I paint the lower intake) the polished upper, chrome water thermostat housing, polished valve covers and chrome CAI.I think the blue lower intake would help those things stand out better,BUT,natural aluminum also looks good as contrast with the polished.Decisions decisions.

I'm not sure that blue would go well with the body color on Vin's car.

That does look stunning Vinnie, but like the other guys said.  I wonder if Ford blue will clash with the color of your car.  That color looks incredible on that intake though.
