Dropped off the heads......

I have thought about a color "clash",but,I really don't mind the engine standing out like that.Remember the cars from the late 60'?Ford Blue,Chevy orange,Hemi orange,Pontiac blue, etc. etc. no matter what color of a car you had.I think it can still work. One way to find out. I think it would look "right",and not blend in.I actually want it to to go "POW !!!" when I open the hood.I should have it mostly complete tomorrow before or around lunch time.Pics will be here.I'll wheel the engine in the sun light for pics.

My upper intake will remain polished aluminum. As will the valve covers, tensioner, alternator, and some chrome (not a lot0.It should look really nice....until I bolt it in and proceed to get it all filthy.

Well,no pics.I started work late on the engine.had to go do other things today.I did get the front cover on,the heads are torqued down, rockers and push rods installed, and I was working on the oil pan bolts when I stopped.I also installed the lower intake, injectors, fuel rail, and distributor.I went ahead and painted the lower intake blue.I actually like it.I used the dark Ford Blue.I couldn't find any intake bolts I liked,so,I got out the bench grinder, installed a wire wheel and cleaned the originals.I really like them better than what I was looking for.LOL.I was going to install the water pipes on the lower, but I have to cut off the little water tube that supplies water to the spacer and weld it closed. It isn't used on my car,and I don't want a plug clamped on.I'll have the following done tomorrow at some point....

-oil sending unit and extender
-water pump
-intake sensors
-plugs for back of intake (I'll have to buy some)
-timing pointer
-**maybe the accessory brackets**

Pics to follow.Man,It's time to chill for a while.Anyway, there's the update.

Ok Vinnie.  We'll give you 'till tomorrow to get some pics up in here.  We've tried being patient with ya, but you're making us wait too long.  We want to see what it looks like.  I hate to be this way, but if you don't have the pics in here tomorrow, then we're gonna have to pay you a little visit!  :beatyoass:

Don't say we didn't warn you!  :hick:

You should have done the same green on the motor, and black compartment with the polished aluminum.

It's a little late.LOL.I REALLY wanted Ford Blue regardless of the exterior color. The engine compartment will be black though.I want the engine to stand out on it's own.....like it matters.Once I install it it'll get filthy, but for a few weeks at first.....sweetness.Tomorrow morning,I'm going to pick up a few plugs and a couple of bolts for the thermostat housing, then, pics.Hopefully early.I really am close to being done.I am going to wait on the brackets for the accessories.I want to do a little work on them before they go on.

Thanks a lot.I really thought long and hard about whether or not to paint the lower intake.Obviously,I painted it.I'm glad I did.Once I get the water tubes (smaller tube on it) welded up,I'll remove the distributor and install them. One step closer.I've got packages to ship tomorrow,so,probably Tuesday for the water pipes.

My guess is about 865 horse power.......790 at the wheels.

300hp at the tires is a great number. I've done minor mods to mine nothing major. The engine internally is factory stock, the only time the rockers saw daylight in when we put the new valve covers on, but with what I've done with over 130,000 miles it put down 179hp at the tires on the dyno. I would've liked to have seen more but at least it's better than the stock 155hp. And it still gets 20-25mph, so I'm happy with it until the time comes that I can do an engine.
I'm anxious to see how your's looks in the car. I'm sure it'll be sweet.
