Dropped off the heads......

I took the heads to Performance Machine and dropped them off with the valve springs. They're going to blend the bowls, open up the exhaust ports,do a lot of porting and smoothing and a 5 angle valve job,and when they're finished, they'll also give me a flow sheet with all of the numbers.$250.00.He also told me to look forward to a lot more power....Niiiiiiiice......I told them I'll pick them up on Payday.Funds are low.I think I need to move some parts.I'll have the cam installed by Sunday, and the block and pan painted as well. After I pick up the heads,it'll be a couple of hours and the engine will be ready to drop in.The machine shop is also going to clean and bead blast my replacement front cover and alternator bracket (which I'll be cutting the smog part off of).I'm starting to get tingly feelings. Once I drop in the new engine,I'll have an E303 cam,Ported E-7 heads with 5 angle valve job, and 1.6 roller rockers for sale.Just thought I'd share.

What ??? I posted a thread down in the engine area down stairs here on the forum.I've got almost everything I need except the heads at this point.I'd like to find a wicked cheap GT40 lower intake and the water pipes so I can have the engine as close to doe as possible.I've got to hit the yards and Ebay to find one.

Vinnie, why just the lower intake?

I would assume something like porting - the lower intake he's using now is on the car and cannot be sent out or have time spent on porting it. The lowers can flow like 20% more with porting, matching the flow of the uppers.

What did you decide to do about the different heights between intake and exhaust?

I MAY take the E303.  Like I said, I've always wanted to make a lamp out of one ;)

The machine shop is going to handle the cs with the springs and do whatever they need to do.It's on their shoulders now.I just have to write the check.

I have no idea.I'm assuming so since they haven't called.I'll know one way or the other tomorrow sometime.Probably afternoon. They are really good over there at Performance. These heads are nothing new to them. They do most of the dirt track engines and 1/4 mile guy's engines around here.I'm also going to stop and have another 3G disassembled for me so I can polish it up,then they'll re-assemble it.Better and easier than smoothing and polishing while it's all together.

They are pedestal mount, and they have about less than 10,000 miles on them. They won't be sold until after the other engine is in the Sport,so,I'm unsure when that'll be.I'll be fair with prices and post when it's time.Believe me,I'll be hopefully jumping for joy when the engine swap starts. As far as bolt size, whatever the factory bolt size is that screws into the heads.

i believe that the stock ones on the 3.8 are stud mount and not pedestal    are the interchangeable?

Nope, they are different animals between pedestal and stud mount.
