408 stroker project (For Sale 5/2018) Reply #150 – August 20, 2010, 10:06:42 AM I had some time the past couple days and got some work done. One thing I did was sell my ponys and I picked up weld draglites 15x5 front and 15x8 for the rear. The rear I'm going to put 26x10 ET streets on it. The front has 195/65/15 and fit very good. So after getting my valves corrected and fuel pressure gauge it runs better than it did. I don't have the constant smoke coming from the tailpipes like I did but theres still black smoke and the plugs start to foul up after 10min of running and the car dies. I ran some codes and found 158 and 51. I pulled my ECT sensor and it fell apart while unscrewing it, I put another one in. The 158 mass air code is what I'm working on now. I have to double check the mass air wiring, than I think I'm going to get another meter and try it out. It would certainly explain my rich condition. As of right now fuel pressure is at 38 psi, timing at 15*, and TPS just under 1 volt. My meter is a lightning maf and the chip was programmed by justin's performance center in MD. I might give him a call and see if I can have the chip checked, and possibly the meter. The burn he did a while back might be wrong? I had them do a basic tune to a diablosport chip just to match the 42# injectors to the mass air meter to get me by till I have it tuned. Here's a py phone video of the car running:http://gallery.me.com/bobprendergast#100539/Running%20but%20very%20rich&bgcolor=black Quote Selected

408 stroker project (For Sale 5/2018) Reply #158 – October 02, 2010, 05:24:16 PM LOL, easy for you to say.. When it isn't fun anymore than why do it? This car has become a c or a job... I didnt understand it either when it happened to other guys here. Now being their shoes with my project I know exactly why they called it quits... There's just no drive for me to complete this.. The big problem for me is time, I just want something fast that's fun to drive and all I need to do is wash it and drive it. Quote Selected

408 stroker project (For Sale 5/2018) Reply #162 – October 03, 2010, 10:17:15 AM Another big part of it is the shock of what its going to cost to complete this car. I'm looking at an additional $10k to finsh the car. So I'd rather take that 10k, trade in my 2005 explorer and recover what I can from the cougar and put it toward buying something nice with it. There's plenty out there that would be fun to drive in the 25k-30k range :) Quote Selected
