Mid/low 13sec 5.0 project (new video and pics 7/11) Reply #195 – August 12, 2008, 01:25:47 PM Oh. I was going to use the 4cyl, but now I've got a sweet deal on an 89 5.0 transmission with only 3500 miles on a rebuild with new gears and synchros. It's got the shorter first gear I want (3.35), and a short throw shifter thrown in too. If anyone wants a 4cyl T5, just let me know; I'm still taking that deal because of all the other stuff that comes with it. He won't sell it seperate.EDIT: nvm, I asked him if he'd take $125 off the price and sell me everything except the tranny and he agreed. Awesome, makes my life easier. Quote Selected

Mid/low 13sec 5.0 project (new video and pics 7/11) Reply #197 – August 12, 2008, 04:38:33 PM Well I should hopefully have all the parts within the next 2-3 weeks. So hopefully in about a month or so. I want the inside to look factory; this is exactly how I want my shifter and boot:The sooner we do the swap, the sooner I can sell the AOD and buy the last part needed for my engine swap (the fuel pump). Then just wait for the block to get finished; hopefully I wont need new pistons. Quote Selected
Mid/low 13sec 5.0 project (new video and pics 7/11) Reply #198 – August 12, 2008, 05:37:17 PM well just so u know the shifter is a b&m ripper short shifterI have the shifter handle somewhere, its a VERY short peice(maybe 4-5 inchs tall, plus maybe 3/4-1inch more height with the ) and was impossible to use in the 66 thats why the hurst shift handle went on. If I can find the ripper shift handle it will go with the trans, other wise you just get the b&m short shifter without a handle. I need the hurst one for the 4 speed that I now need to put in.Video will be comeing in a little bit I'm just finishing cleaning up the car, and ill be pulling it out for you. Thanks for an excuse to drive it!I dont know for sure if its the first gear you want, but I know for a fact first gear in that thing with the 4.11's is utterly useless. You get faster launches starting in second, first is only good for spinning tires. Like you said it should work great with your 3.27 gears.Glad this is working out for us both! Quote Selected
Mid/low 13sec 5.0 project (new video and pics 7/11) Reply #199 – August 12, 2008, 05:49:54 PM Yeah my rear gears are a lot more conservative. Sounds like you have the 3.35 first gear (which is what the 89 came with), which is what I want. Thanks a ton man!No prob on giving ya an excuse to drive it :D . I guess you'll need to make another vid once you put the 4 speed in Quote Selected

Mid/low 13sec 5.0 project (new video and pics 7/11) Reply #202 – August 12, 2008, 10:17:05 PM My dad has a hurst shifter in the Chevelle - had them rebuild it for $100 and now it rattles in 2nd and 4th, not to mention that they kinda like...FORGOT...about his rebuild and took several months to do it. I'm stayin away from them. Quote Selected
Mid/low 13sec 5.0 project (new video and pics 7/11) Reply #203 – August 13, 2008, 03:42:23 PM Well he wouldnt let me drive it on the street yet because its been sitting for so long we need to bleed the brakes and check over everything first. I adjusted the rockers and all that so it should be soon, but it might only be with the 4 speed. So I took a vid of me pulling it in the garage to at least prove the trans moves the car. And theres a pic of the trans(best i could get laying under it) and 2 of the shifter to show its a b&m, and the handle(b&m ripper)vidhttp://s31.photobucket.com/albums/c384/boss3512/?action=view¤t=mustang014.flvshifterB&M logo(barly see it)ripper shifter handlebest pic i could get of the trans Quote Selected

Mid/low 13sec 5.0 project (new video and pics 7/11) Reply #209 – August 19, 2008, 03:33:37 PM I ahve to find something to ship the trans in now lol33 inchs long and strong enough to hold it, think im gonna do what I have heard many guys have done to ship trans. Buy a coolerO and quick info for you, the stock tbird shifter will not work with the B&M ripper without makeing bushings for the bolt holes, so you are getting the stock tbird with the ripper short shifter handle(which is AWESOME, ive been driving with it in my dads bird and its SWEET)Figure that way it looks stock like u want, works with just bolting on, and its a blast to use!Im gonna try to get the trans out before friday!
