Cat Jam is a about a month away, I am flirting with going or not depends on how I will get up ther safely with my car and what my work/school schedule is. If not this year, definatly will be there in '06.

Well..I have news...and most of it isn't good.

I guess the good news is I'm getting married on July 30th.  #2 for me, #1 for her.  We decided back in early April to get married.....We're not making a big ordeal out of it, but it has grown a little more than we had originally planned.

What does this have to do w/ CJ?  Well, since weddings aren't free, it has eaten into my car funds over the past couple months...thus slowing down the reassembly process.  Not a big deal, but I was going to be hard-pressed to make the trip, but was still going to try.  She actually wanted me to go until I basically told her the car would not be ready, and I would not go w/o the car.

Now, until a couple weks ago, there was still a very slim chance I would be able to make the trip.  However, while I was on vacation the week before last I blew out my "good" knee (possible torn muniscus)...and it's looking like surgery.  So that is more money out the door and I will most likely not be able to be driving anyway depending on what the MRI shows and when the surgery is.  That right there was the last nail in the coffin.  Even if it wasn't for the financial hit, there is no way right now I can really get in and get the car done.  I still have a cage to weld and a few other things, and I just can't do it right now w/ my knee, and will be even less mobile for a while after the surgery.  I'm limited to doing things I can do standing up...like putting the accessories and other bits back on the engine and sitting down to finally build the MegaSquirt kit I've had since X-mas (well I can sit down to build that :p).

So gang, I'm sorry to say you will not be blessed...or I guess I should say cursed w/ my presence this year at CJ.  :(  I'm pretty bummed about it.

!  Chuck, you're on my must-meet list along with Shawn... (who will probably bail at the last minute again, unfortunately).

I have some bad news of my own.  I'll be there, but I won't have my T-bird.  Right now CJ is what, a month away?  My t-bird hasn't moved since late last year.  I have a $500 credit card bill, $240 a month car payment, and I make about $700 a month since I've been screwed out of more hours.  You do the math.  I'll bring the neon, but I won't adorn it with ford or mercury badges as some crazy people did last year with another chrysler product. Heh. Of course I'll park it far, far away from all the good cars. Anyway, I'm guessing my non-car status probably disqualifies me for traffic control duty (you know, leading packs of cars from one location to the next).  Anyway, I'll still be there, maybe not 100% of the time, but I'll show up to see what everyone's done and look at all the cars.  Meh, this hurts me because so far I've been in attendance, with a car for every single CJ.  Blast!

I am thinking about it, But the days that you picked for it are the worst for me. The 24th is utahs aniversarry as a state. So everyone in utah is trying to get it off to go camping and buy fireworks and parties and stuff. If I can get it off(I wont know until last minute. They think I have a family reunion) Then I guess I am gonna burn a good $400 to $600 or more in gas drving there. I will also be stuck bringing my v-6 car.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

Chuck...that sucks bro (about CJ, not the wedding). I know you've tried pretty hard to get here the past few years. Seems like no breaks are coming your way. I also was looking forward to meeting you. There's always next year, like we keep saying every year. :)

Brian...you can drive my T-Bird if you want. It can be your pimpalicious hooptie for the weekend boyeeeeeeeee.

Utah...wow, you guys really have nothing else going on out there, do ya?! :)
I would love to have another CJ out in the west sometime in the future. Problem is distance...and finding someone out there to organize it. Until I find that person, I'm afraid we're going to have to be eastern-centric. Please take no offense. We'd love to have you here but the logistics of the whole thing doesn't make sense for most people. Unless you're Royce and make that 1,700 mile one-way trip. ;)

Las Vegas nevada would be perfect for a wester conferance next year.Too late now. It is right inbetween utah and cali and a kind of fun place to be. Also if you could do it at diffrent times incase some one wants to go to both east and west conferances? I wouldnt want to run or be in charge of it, but I wouldnt have any problems looking into things maybe making plans and contacting places. Let me know?

Not sure if I'll be able to make it or not. Coug's not running now, money is really tight and I don't have a room. This sucks because it was a lot of fun last year and I was really looking forward to it.
By the way, does anyone know if there's any rooms still available anywhere?

Look for hotels in North Lima, Ohio.  It's a little bit down the road, but not much.  They should be cheaper by a little bit, too.

Eric - I might take you up on the offer unless I get a burst of mad motivation to get the car put together (even with a leaking pinion seal).

I bet you could recruit a bunch of guys to help you get it done quick (ohhhhh, say during a Friday afternoon in late July...)  ;)
