Official Cat Jam 2005 Thread

I'm sure a lot of you want to start planning your vacations for this summer, so here's the official low-down:

Cat Jam is July 22, 23 and 24 once again in Youngstown, Ohio, USA. We have a pavilion at our city's most prestigious and beautiful nationally-renowned park, Mill Creek Park. Full information on the pavilion can be found here: http://www.millcreekmetroparks.com/rental-slipperyrock.htm

As you can see, all amenities are covered (playground, bathroom facilities, parking, etc.) so that everyone can be fully accommodated. It is a little tricky to get to the park; however, I will be compiling a full packet for everyone attending so that they'll have ample time to familiarize themselves with the directions.

The most important thing is that the park is not very far from the hotels, nor from the strip (Rt. 224) where all the other car shows are. In other words, we're really not going that far out of the way and in fact, we will be a lot closer to Rt. 224 than in years past.

Also new this year is the concept of having a split caravan. We're going to divide into smaller groups, with each group having a leader and tail car to keep everyone in order. They will be equipped with CB's and will be in communication with everyone else. We're trying to make sure nobody gets lost; as you can imagine that's a very tall order but we are adressing the issue full bore this year.

For those that can help with the car caravans once here in town, we'll have a run-through trip from the hotels to the park tentatively scheduled for Thursday. If you're going to be in town then, not a problem...we'll take care of it on Friday sometime.

Please review all the sections on the site at Cat Jam's new address: http://www.catjam.net . This will be the place where all official communication is presented. It will be up to YOU to review it, but I will try to post on the message boards as a courtesy. There are also volunteer and registration forms posted there, so please fill those out if you're coming and/or can help.

Thanks everyone!

I've already begun my debate as to whether or not I come. Prolly will depend on where my work schedule falls, how much work I can get finished on the bird by then, my laziness  , my semi-timidness  , and finances. But pending what I decide I will prolly be willing to be one of the guide types seeing as i'm local to the general area. We'll see.

I should be coming.  For the second year in a row the last Saturday of july is not the last full weekend so it won't interfere with my family reunion, which is always the last Saturday in July since before I was even born.  I will try to land in Youngstown on thursday night just so I don't have to rush as much to get there and to give me extra time in case something happens to the bird on the way.  After all, I have had my hands on just about everything on this car.

Should I just make plans to bring the engine hoist without asking this year?

In CJ tradition, someone is working every year.  I remember one year Crystal spent most of the whole time shoulder deep into her door panel, fixing the door poppers.

That's the one I wasn't sure about. 2/3's of all cat-jams have been jam-packed with car-work.
