So I swapped in a rebuilt aod from a mustang into my 84 t-bird. The linkage is a bit different off the mustang, it points downwards on the tranny and upwards on the bird. How easy is it to swap that over? Also the linkage that goes up onto the throttle body had nothing holding it on. Is there a grommet or is it a clip that holds it in place? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
If you look at the second picture on the front lower drivers corner you can see a little bit. On the top picture behind the molding on the driver door at the furthest to the rear is a little bit. Also on the front left fender at the lip of the fender its starting to rust. Nothing right through, mostly surface rust that could be fixed easily. Ill get interior pics as well shortly.
As stated 84 t-bird elan 5.0. Its got 140k kms so close to 80k miles on the original motor. Motor fires up everytime first time but the tranny is shot on it(slips). I lowered it all the way around, tinted windows, newish tires and axle back exhaust. Its sitting in my driveway and if someone offered me money for it I would probably take it. Could use some body work, small rust spots, scratches, but paint is very decent for its age. Its never been in an accident, 2nd owner, my grandma owned it before me. Interior is good minus headliner sagging. If i had the time I would put in a tranny and drive it. Chances are slim ill get any bites from here but just thought I would put it out there for you guys. Ill say 600$ CDN to start things off.

I slapped 245's in the rear on stock 14" rims. They bulge quite a bit but it looks good IMO, I dont race it or anything, just crusin' so it didn't bother me at all.
I own a 1984 t-bird 5.0, I hear a strange noise coming from the console shifter. When the car is in all gears exept (D) it sounds like air is escaping from a small hole in the console. Its pretty loud and very annoying. Is there a vacuum line inside the console attached to the shift linkage in someway? If anyone has any info on what might be the problem that would be great. Thanks in advance...
I used stock mustang 5.0 springs on my 84 t-bird. It lowered the rear about 1 1/4 inches, but the front stayed the same height. SO i cut half a coil of the springs for the front and it slammed it. My cats se everywhere lol. But I love the stance and the ride is a little bouncy but alot better than stock.
Alright first of all the windows in my bird are messed up. Im pretty sure the gears have been stripped because on the drivers side it goes up easily if u help it along. It works fine going down but up the motor just spins and the window just chills. The passenger side window does not work at all unless you push it down or pull it up. Will new windown lifters from any tbird work? I have the smoker windows so im not sure if ther are any different. Secondly Im having the piggest pain in the ass finding wheels for my car that will fit. The only wheels I could find were centerlines and there like 600$ a wheel!! Ive found a few sites with 4 bolt rims but most of them are 16". WOuld it be possible to run a 9" rim with some spacers? 9" rims are more accesable and pretty cheep aswell. COuld you recooment some sites that have wheels that would fit? Its a 84 t-bird lowered about 2" all around. I was also looking around for wire wheels but they alll seem to be 5 bolt or reverse offset which is a no no.
I have an 84 tbird with the 5.0L motor. I just read that there are 2 precats before the cat. NOw if thats true then I dont have a cat becuase it goes from the exhuast manifold to the "precats" and then goes to my ler a little ways after. Would taking them off make my emissions fail? What was the usual setup for exhuast for my car?
Well im using stock fox body springs. The rears went in prefectly and I love the drop. Will the springs im using be considered long? They look abit taller which concerns me cuz I dont want it to lift the suspension.
I was just wondering what the easiest way to get the front springs out of my 84 bird. I tried dropping the control arm from the balljoint but the control arm sticks into the back lip of the rotor so it wont drop down. Then I tried removing the bolts for the control arm which was semi succesful. The dam bolts on the front part would hit the sterring linkage and not pull out. So do I have to completely remove the whole rotor and caliper before attempting to get the springs out?
If I were to install v8 foxbody springs will it lower my 84 tbird 5.0? A few people have said it works, definatly not the best handling but it does lower it.
Yah it does have 2 sets of pre outs, the list price for the deck was 549.99$. I bought everything all at once so im not sure the exact price though. The built in equalizer is soo nice to have. It makes everything sound so nice and un-distorted. Definatly a high quality deck and I would recomomend it to anyone.
http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2286403 Here is my 1984 thunderbird elan that I got in the summer of 2005. Its got the 5.0 efi engine, digi dash, power everything, no leather and only 125k kms on it. Only cat back exhuast right now, spent alot of time with the sound system becuase I love bass lol. I will have pictures by tomrorow, of it in the day time. My dads camera has to many functions so I got figure out how to use it. Im not too familiar with th engine thats in this car as far as modding it goes. I want to lower it but im not sure where to start looking for parts. Some people say that mustang springs fit but I dont want to go buy them and them not fit. Ive sean a few posts with places to look for parts, could you guys give me some info on what parts are interchangable as far as suspension and engine parts are concerned.
