ok heres the deal. township came by today and said car has got to be registered and inspected within 30 days or it's getting towed. I paid almost 900 for it asking $450. it starts up and idles good.. may need a tune up. needs brake work I know probably wheel cylinders not sure never checked it out. dash has been taken apart!!! have new digital gauges coming.. will include in sale. Everything is still there. would be an awesome parts car everything except dash is in real great shape.. well except seats. need to sell soon.
i am running to the yard tomorrow. let me see what I find and i'll let you know. I don't need this right away as I have a daily driver.. this is my project car. Not sure if I want to tackle the whole electrical thing. I know from posts I have read that the fuel sending unit does not work with anything else but the digital dash. so that means I have to swap out the fuel sending unit. uggggghhh I just filled it up with gas before I parked it...
yeah sounded out each wire to find that 3 out of four just on the tach only were broken right at the connector pins. No way to fix them tried and ended up ripping the ribbon off back of tach. No I have to hope I can find a good set of gauges. Or can someone help me with step by step directions to get buttstuffog stuff in my car.
here's what happened. I got the car and the gauges worked. I could see that they worked with the sun on them.the dash lights themselves ( the lights that show up behind the gauges)were not working though. I started to trace them down and found that they had fried a wire.. and it was missing a relay. Now I got the lights fixed but my gauges are dead. i have no reading on them at all. is there some sort of relay for them as well?
i have had a hell of a time so far with this car. I enjoy it though especially when I win..lol... Car was owned by some kids two owners ago and they tried to run high power audio equipment the wrong way and fried ( and by fried I mean they melted the wire out of the casing fried) a wire out from the fuse panel all along the driver side door to the back seats. I got that all repaired and I know my gauges work but now they are not. lost power to them some where i'll have to find out where. more search and rescue for me. It strarts slow but runs great once it's started after a few early morning stumbles but then idles just fine.. revs great and drove great. Can't wait to get it on the road.
it's the instrument cluster relay... i had another one same style as that one in the first pic.. i changed it to the one i am missing... walla...i have dash lights... it says Ford E4LB on it. I think I need the numbers under the E4LB to get the right one. Thanks for the help.
I'll be hitting the yard this weekend if it doesn't rain, but if someone could tell me what relay I need that goes to the dash prior to that I'll just buy it new.
These relays are behind the center console behind dash area. I had one that was hanging down and didn't think it went to anything. Found out it does. it is suppose to supply my dash lights with power.
it's hard to explain where they are bu they clip up to the right side of the drivers foot well area. there should be two Grey ones and a black one.
