rear end gears....and maby a shift kit.  my  :2c:

for some "free" hp...advance the timing, ice the intake and remove the passenger seat, spare tire and anything else to save weight (at the track), remove the air box from inside the fender, run a short belt bypassing the smog pump and ac.....

Free up the exhaust.  I gutted my main catalyst (it was broken & turned sideways anyway, & the little ones were already gone) & I definitely noticed the difference.

Reducing the restriction of the exhasut may free up top end power, however will hurt your lower end of the power band. To do this with 3.73's may help out, or at least give you a nice exhaust note and quicker launches. Headers, x-pipe (h-pipe), hi-flow lers and a set of 3.73's are what I would suggest. Removing the air silencer is free, advance the timing to 14* is also free, but costs on the end of running 93oct or better.

Adding a NOS sticker to each c pillar window will give you an instant 50HP.

But seriously, nitrous would give you the boost you want, at a pretty penny though, roughly 1200 for a starter kit.

NOT..... a basic kit 75-150 shot would be about $500.

Guess I wasn't looking hard enough because all I was seeing at pep boys was a 1000 starter kit...

My engine ('88 5.0) gained across the board when I gutted the cat.

I gutted my cat and it seems that I am running through gas like it is nothing. Granted a 5.0 uses a lot of gas as it is but this is a little crazy. Is this because of not having a cat or is something else causeing my milage to drop?

sounds like you have no back pressure and are hitting the gas harder for longer to get going .
trick flow street heat intake , 24lbs injetors, ported GT-40's (Chip) long tube headers. and a Performance Automatic C4, with a hurst shifter!

If the exhaust is still stock I'd say there is still a decent amount of backpressure.  Could be any number of things.  Timing might be off, injector stuck open,  leaking gas tank (YES I had a friend driving around for quite some time like that before he figured it out :giggle: )

Just checked the timing, it is right on the money. I guess the next thing I will have to check for is the injectors. Please tell me I can take them out without takeing my intake off?
