New guy saying high.

I just bought this 88 Turbo coupe and plan on swaping it to a V8. Over the years I have owned 8 t birds and 7 of them have been Turbo coupes including a brand new one in 88 and a 5.0L conversion in 91 on an black 88 TC that is the twin to the one I have now.
This car is a super clean 100% rust free car and I picked (stole it ) it up for $450. This is my wife after she took it for a ride. The first thing she said was "wow I used to think these were fast" LOL

$450??? How many miles does that thing have on it, the outside looks immaculate!

God, one like that would probably go for about $3000 here...

Great deal $450 was a steal....  I can relate to what your wife said, the automatic TCs are slow and beg for a 5.0 swap...

Have some fun, crank up the boost and when the A4LD pukes its guts, go for the 5.0..

Your missing the rear seat!

It looks straight. I wish I could find one like that. But with the 5 speed.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

Thanks for the warm welcome everybody.

The trans is already slipping so We are not going to drive it untill the v8 swap is done.
I took the rear seat out to clean it but it will be back in soon. I think the $450 was a super deal but I could have had the car for $250 if I had no coscience(sp?).

My love for the Turbo coupes started in 88 when my wife and I bought a brand new maroon 88 that was loaded with every option. That didnt last long because she drove it into a tree the first snow storm we had. Then in 1990 I had a black on red 88 TC that we swaped a 5.0L into and that was one of the best all around daily drivers I have ever had. Over the years I we have had 7 TC's and about 55 to 60 Mustangs from 70 Boss 302s (4 of them) to 03 Cobras (2 of them).

over the years I never forgot about the black TC with the V8.

TurboCoupe50 A couple of years ago I got to check out your car at VMP and I really liked it.I was running my 01 WS6 trans am.

... that be alot of fords!!!

that is a very nice looking car for 450. great deal.
ever do a 2.3 build up? they can be pretty darn fast!

I am ever the proponent of keeping the tc's tc's.. but it is your car and for 450 bucks you can't beat it!

Nice deal. Go for more guts if you're going to swap. I think TurboCoupe50 will become TurboCoupe347 soon. I'm swapping a 401 AMC into one of my TC's. I've also done a pretty wild 2.3T build-up, but it loses it's street fun factor.
