I'm swapping a 401 AMC into one of my TC's. I've also done a pretty wild 2.3T build-up, but it loses it's street fun factor. Those AMC 401 can make alot of power if built right. Many years ago I had a friend with an AMX with a 401 with the "dog leg " heads and he ran way into the tens with it and this was almost 20 years ago.If I had my way I would do an LS2 in it but Im affraid that I would have to listen to all kinds of .I know the 2.3 would make power and I could build one for nothing because a real good friend used to build them for midget cars years ago and he has tons of parts he would give me . He has aftermarket cranks, heads, and tons of other stuff but I just cant do it.I hate the way they viberate, sound, and the type of power they make.Like you said "street fun factor" My friend has a mustang with a basicly stock 302 in it with his own turbo kit and he has made 560 to the wheels on pump gas and alcohol. Thats the kind of power im looking for. My 03 Cobra went low 11s on pump gas and Nittos and I would like the TC to run about the same. Quote Selected
New guy saying high. Reply #19 – June 13, 2006, 09:40:25 AM My 401 is a 1970 with the hi-compression dog-leg heads. It would go fast in a TC dead stock. Of course it won't be :D:D:D Go for the LS1/LS2!! That was actually my original plan, but they are so expensive. Try for the LS1 though, the LS2 is still having teething problems with not nearly as much aftermarket support, and I have no idea how the heck you would get the drive-by-wire throttle body to work. At least you can BUY motor mounts to stick an LS1 into a fox-chassis! Quote Selected

Back in '02 I got the red TC in my sig for $430, and its a 5 speed with 116K mi. It does have a few issues but is basically a solid car... It mostly sleeps in the back of my garage... Thinking about sorting it out and driving it some...BTW it's wheels are on my white one... If you want to see some more of it, pictures P6110108.JPG thru P6110114.JPG are posted on my ISP... Just modify the address once the pic opens from the sig link... They were taken last fall when I pulled it out to clean my garage... Quote Selected
