Yes another year and I'll be ready. Things just aren't going as planned. I could see it coming about 2 months ago. Projects and their funding wasn't matching up to what I'm bringing in.  car payments and rising cell phone bills (and getting pulled over) so insurance payments too. Blah. As you all might have guessed the body kit is still lying in the garage. No money to get it put on. College is killing my bank and now with the saab giving me troubles it seems i'm in a rut. Guys next year will be my year to shine. I'll get all the kinks and bottlenecks figured out by then and she'll be in her prime. Good luck to all and may we have no accidents on the trips to and from.

Wish everyone a swell time and am looking forward to seeing the pictures.

That's a bummer, Steve. Sorry to hear that. Better check into another plan for your phone though...sheesh, those bills will get the best of ya really quickly. Save while you're still young!

So, uh, why don't you and your dad just cruise down for the day in another car? We'd still love to see you guys. And you're so close, it's almost a shame.

I still have those days off... Never know I just may get bored and borrow some money and show up for Saturday.. :) I guess if you seen one bodykit you've seen them all.

Well piss.

Looks like my plans are going to fail me as well.  The car is still w/o a cam and even if I get it together this weekend, I'm not sure how comfortable I'd feel with a 5+ hour drive on it as the tune is just still not right.

Also, I've had some family shiznit pop up that I may have to deal with that weekend.

Dang, it looks like there's a few folks on here having trouble making it to Cat Jam this year. I'm doing everything in my power to make it, but there seems to be one thing after another that's trying to be keeping me from at least bringing the Cougar. One thing, the seats are still not finished, and this is two weeks after he promised he'd have 'em finished.

I also have a lot of unfinished things to do under the hood -- change the oil, tune up, new alternator, etc. More outside too -- buffing, wax, brakes (yes, I'm still having trouble), I also have my taillights in millions of peices trying to do some customizing to 'em. But, my vacation starts next Wednesday, so I'll have two good days to get things finished, that's if the seats are finished. Everyone, cross your fingers for me!

Even if you can't get the whole interior done, all you need is a driver's seat!

Alright, now I don't feel so bad about the possibility of not making it.

The '86 needs a bit of work just to pass inspection. I technically have 5 days to do that before I'd have to leave. Plus I have some cosmetic issues I want to work out before I have it out in public. Even though that seems to be plenty of time I just don't see it happening. Lack of funding isn't helping...why did I buy this car in the first place? Nevermind.

The '88 is the devil in disguise. It has been running great. I have yet to take it out on the road but it starts up fine and I can move it around with no problems at all. I don't think I want to chance driving that car. Something about breaking down heading out or coming back just doesn't interest me. I'm telling you it is the devil.

So this leaves me with the Tib. 35-40 mpg highway with the AC blasting full tilt is quite inviting. However, that money I'd spend on gas, food, the hotel and so on is money that I could put into the '86.

I don't know, it's up in the air for me. I have a feeling it will be next thursday before I figure it out. :(

See what I started?!

Not really, this happens every year. 50 people say they will make it and then every year 2 weeks before the meet come the excuses. IMO the way they always say they wont make it sounds more like they are talking themselves out of it with excuses so they dont feel bad...But its cool, do what ya gotta do...I aint mad at ya, I just wish one year everyone that says they were gonna show would actually show. It would double the size in one year, and everyone would have such a good time that I could only hope it doubles every year. Would be nice to 10 years down the road turn into a Nation Wide car show that people drives thousands of miles for to attend like our fellow mustangs, camaros, etc...

I brutha can dream cant he?

I agree that most people decide they can't make it just before the meet and that's how it should be. Things come up and that is more than understandable.  Hell, I wanted to take the Cougar to Carlisle but it gave me a fit 3 days before the show. If I hadn't had already paid for my admission, I probably wouldn't have even gone.

I don't think anyone is trying to talk themselves out of going or making up silly excuses though.

Most of us have been there before and had a good time so why would we say we are coming and then back out because 'we don't want to go'. That doesn't make sense.
I want to go in the worst way but if the money isn't there, it's not going to happen. I have a room reserved (not paid for yet) and I haven't paid my registration yet. Unfortunately, I'm on a very tight budget and I won't know for sure if I can make it until next week.:disappoin
