Re: engine codes Reply #2 – August 11, 2005, 09:48:51 PM where is the VAF? is that the same thing as the VAM? I think my turbo is in the process of taking a dump. sounds like there is shaft play. but I have a spare :hick: Quote Selected
Re: engine codes Reply #3 – August 11, 2005, 10:02:33 PM VAF is the vane mass air where the air filter conects to.. Quote Selected
Re: engine codes Reply #4 – August 11, 2005, 11:00:40 PM is there any way to test the VAF? Quote Selected
Re: engine codes Reply #5 – August 11, 2005, 11:09:36 PM unplugged the O2 sensor and the engine seemed to gain power but still puffs black smoke. it acts like its not getting the air flow that it needs, I have a K&N filter cleaned it not too long ago. even with the air box open it still seems bogged down thats where I get my idea that the turbo is going out and possibly blocking the air flow at the lower rpm's gonna stick my other turbo on tomorrow or so and see if it changes anything. Re: engine codes Reply #6 – August 11, 2005, 11:51:36 PM take the VAM off of the car, and blast it out with some carb cleaner, run the door open and closed while you spray it, and get it as clean as possible, and make sure the vam door operates properly Quote Selected
Re: engine codes Reply #7 – August 13, 2005, 12:45:03 PM well I think my tps quit last night, so changing out the throtte body. Quote Selected
Re: engine codes Reply #8 – August 13, 2005, 10:38:59 PM TPS is easy to swap, dont change the throttle body, just swap the TPS Quote Selected
Re: engine codes Reply #9 – August 14, 2005, 12:26:51 AM well I had an extra throttle body so I stuck it on.. I guess what happened was I went through a water puddle and got something wet. the car would run but when you step on the gas it would die, wait for a little while it would run normal dont know what the deal is I know I almost got stuck in wichita because of it.
