engine codes

anyone have a list of the engine codes?  took my car to ford today and they pulled codes: 66, 23, 41, and 42.    maybe I am having the same problems that joe was having :dunno:  I have a choppy idle and it bucks and jerks when accelerating.  Graham

one second i'll get the code list for you  ;)

88 turbo coupe right?

:EDIT:

code 23 TPS out of test range.

check TPS if over 1.5 volts try to ajust if you can't get it below 1 volt you need to change the TPS..

code 41 HEGO lean signal in closed loop.

code 42 HEGO rich signal in closed loop.

your O2 sensor is either bad or has a bad conection to the sensor

code 66 vane air flow (VAF) sensor. shorted signal to signal return circuit..

check the wiring to the VAF if good you may have to replace it..

there's only about a half a dozen man made objects that are herd by the human ear below 40Hz,a pipe organ, thunder, the space shuttle lifting off,a jet airplane taking off or landing,a large canon,an atomic bomb ignited in your back yard and the heat wave afterward oh wait you would be dead so you would'nt hear it scratch that!,and maybe beating your hear against a wall less then 40 times a second..rap music is'nt one of them!thats 40-60Hz@100+db the moving air is under 40Hz

where is the VAF?  is that the same thing as the VAM?  I think my turbo is in the process of taking a dump.  sounds like there is shaft play.  but I have a spare  :hick:

unplugged the O2 sensor and the engine seemed to gain power but still puffs black smoke. it acts like its not getting the air flow that it needs, I have a K&N filter cleaned it not too long ago.  even with the air box open it still seems bogged down thats where I get my idea that the turbo is going out and possibly blocking the air flow at the lower rpm's  gonna stick my other turbo on tomorrow or so and see if it changes anything.

take the VAM off of the car, and blast it out with some carb cleaner, run the door open and closed while you spray it, and get it as clean as possible, and make sure the vam door operates properly
It's Gumby's fault.

TPS is easy to swap, dont change the throttle body, just swap the TPS

well I had an extra throttle body so I stuck it on..  I guess what happened was I went through a water puddle and got something wet.    the car would run but when you step on the gas it would die, wait for a little while it would run normal dont know what the deal is I know I almost got stuck in wichita because of it.
