Random Engine Dying Off

Replaced my fuel pump the 14th of August and everything was running fine. However as of now when the car is idling or running at a low speeds, 1st or low 2nd gear, the car will die off. It is not all the time just here and there. I am thinking dirty idle air sensor or bad fuel pump relay. Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem or if any of you have any ideas of what it could be and how I can test for them.  Help much appreciated!

Does it sputter-sputter die, or just cut off?

Just cuts off, was also thinking a fuel pressure regulator since the system was starved from the old fuel pump having a hole in the submerged line.

Could be a bad fuel pump again .  Just because you replaced it down not mean it is now 100%.  You need to get a fuel pressure regulator in the cab with you so you can see what it is doing pressure wise.  Cleaning the IAC and getting a new fuel pump relay are cheap so no harm in doing that but I would still check the fuel pressure so you know where you are at.  Have you ran the EEC for codes?  Just because the CEL is not blinking or on solid does not mean its not throwing a code.

Thuderbirder85 and I found the problem this past week.

Faulty TFI Module.    Replaced it, and all is well!

I soooo dislike these TFI modules...... When i had my 87 t-bird, i would keep a spare in the car; never knew when it would go out on me.
How fast is fast?

I keep a spare in the trunk also. The mounting just above a heat source was not one of Fords better ideas.

TFI Module was it.

Funny thing is, the car ran and drove perfect up until it would just die off.    Nothing erratic at all, otherwise.

These modules are know for their "Fabulous" reliability.

If your car is doing the same thing - it won't hurt to change it.

Just make sure to use a Motorcraft part.    They seem to be about the only ones that actually work.
