Clutch cable

My buddy had already installed clutch pedal setup, my question is where to drill hole for cable to come out, and what size hole, any pictures of someone doing this mod?

There should be a hole already in your firewall with a grommet in it.  At least it was there on my '88.
'88 'bird, 10.9:1 306 w/TFS top end, forged rods/pistons, T-5 swap & bunch of other stuff, 1-family owned, had it since ‘98, 5.0tbrd88 on Instagram and YouTube

With the hood up, and looking toward the firewall, the clutch cable hole will be to the left of, and slightly below the top of the brake booster.
The older cars, that may be where the speedo cable enters...on the '87-8 cars though, we had electrical speedo, so that's where the cable goes. Unless you have a TC, which of course those were hydraulic, stock.
My thought: look at an 85 or 86 TC or XR7, as those cars had cable clutch (and probably speedo senders instead of a cable, so it's probably not relevant anyway).

Look on the firewall and there will be a dimple already in the metal as to where the hole needs to be.  At least it was there on my '83.
