LOL..the fun never ends...unbolted the strut from the spindle to allow the CA to come down enough to work the inner part of the compresser tool through the coils, and of course, with the engine out, I can't jack the arm back up, the whole car just lifts up.

FML...

Not sure if I can somehow get a ratchet strap in there and try to squeeze things down the 3 inches or so it needs to get the holes lined up or not. Have to eat, I'm weak and I think my sugar is low.

Guess if I have to, I'll drop the engine back in tonight...I'd wanted to clean it up really good before I stabbed it back in.

I will NEVER take the front suspension apart again with the engine out, especially if I plan to put it back together again.
FML.FML. ughhh...

One for the ole experience counter, let me tell you.
Of course if I had different springs, such as Machs or Bullits, I probably would be completely done with that side already.

I should've grabbed the springs from that Stang for you.. They would've lowered your car about 1.5 to 2 inches. They did great for me Sport. I sued them on all 4 corners. Got about a 2 inch drop all around. Sweet. The ride is awesome, and it was a simple remove and replace deal.

So I have the spring in now, but I'm stuck. I have the inside part of the spring compressor stranded inside the  spring. Gonna try to get it out by taking the strut loose from the spindle, and using a jack to lower the control arm enough to finagle the part out...hopefully it works.
A 30 minute job, as always, turns into a 3 day job.

I get this car put back together, I'm probably gonna try to unload it on someone.

do I hear a trade?  heheheheh

Yeah..I didn't think about the springs...hmmm. If you have plans to go back really soon....although I don't wanna have to sue anyone for them lmao

So here's where it sits...errr, where it SHOULD be sitting, as it were:
X

The spring squeezer is out, and obviously the strut is not bolted to the spindle. Here in a few I'm gonna go at it again, with a ratchet strap to see if I can get that 1.5" or so to get the bolts through.

This may seem very trivial to most, but it's fairly hectic for me....it's not that I lack mechanical aptitude, I just tore pretty much the whole car apart, when I should've stayed focused on one thing at a time. The biggest prolem I have now is the lack of the engine weight on the spring to give me what I need.

Anybody that may read this, having never torn into a project, be advised take one step at a time and avoid the backstepping, side stepping and utter wastes of time I've dealt with on and in this car. Keep to one thing at a time, and don't over reach your limits.

Remember also, that this isn't a daily driver for me....it's not like I need it for work on Monday..

was shocking walking into your shop and seeing the car in pieces seems like everytime I come up the engine is out of the car for some reason or another!!  lol

I could probably get the engine in before you could get here...road trip? lol

Next time, I'll give you a ride in it lol

EDIT: springs in, struts bolted in, spindles are on, ready for the rack, and new tie rod ends. Then calipers and new pads. Then the rear needs to be brought up to 5 lug....i still need the rotors, calipers and backing plates and hardware for all that...already have the axles. Ain't getting impatient and leaving the car stranded on jackstands again, waiting till I have EVERYTHING for the rear 5 lug swap. Maybe tomorrow night I'll try to get some of the interior parts back in, carpet, dash, etc

You should keep the car. Most people who put that much work into a car regret it quick when they get rid of it. It's not cursed, you said yourself, you're not focusing on one thing at a time. Get it finished, enjoy it.

What Vinnie said. Everyone has these moments. You will have a better frame of mind once you get a little farther along.

Yeah, I'm pretty happy that I have the bulk of the front end back together...now it's back to the waiting game (for more $) to get new calipers, hoses, and tie rod ends.

There's still so much to put back together that sometimes I get overwhelmed thinking about it. I've done what I can to the front for now, tonight I'll (maybe, I'm pretty exhausted still) do a little interior work to it. If I'm going to have some fun with the car this summer, I need to get focused on it, and stay to task until I finish what I've started, or out of parts/money.

I was just blowin' off steam...I was made a pretty nice offer for it awhile back and didn't have to think very long about it before I told the guy no. :)

JUST SAY NO !!! Don't let it go. I have been there. When I was assembling the Sport, it took me a long time. One piece at a time. I'd grab a part....wait.....grab a part.....wait. Finally, I'd have everything I need and assembly would begin and last until I ran out of parts, then, start all over again. I went through a period of about 3 months or so I lost all my motivation. I was working on the Sport, and wasn't really seeing much progress. Finally, Gayle said "it's not going to get done by itself". For some odd reason, it really got me going. I decided, every screw I turned, every bolt I tightened, was one step closer to the finished car. Not done yet, but the Sport is still in a much better state now.

and that is about how I feel about my red TC I'm really friggin close to having it running but cant get the fuel pump to run.  came really close to pulling the plug on all of them and going back to the old birds and cougars but something inside me wont let that happen.  these cars can be a pita but the more we do on them the more we will appreciate them years from now and once we let go we may not get the chance to get another due to the rate that these are getting sped :(
