8.8 Aluminum Differential in my Bird??? Reply #1 – August 16, 2010, 05:02:29 PM So are you asking if you should try and make the swap to an IRS from the Mark VIII or go with the Ranger rear end? From what I can remember the MN12 platform Birds and the Mark VIII's were very similar but nothing like the Fox platforms. I don't think the IRS from the Mark VIII would not be a bolt in but an IRS from a SN95 Cobra might be easier as they will go in a Fox Mustang.I would go here and download the spread sheet to see if that Ranger rear end will work in your car:http://www.foxtbirdcougarforums.com/showpost.php?p=138359&postcount=12Darren Quote Selected
8.8 Aluminum Differential in my Bird??? Reply #2 – August 16, 2010, 05:07:20 PM The Ranger rear would be set up for leaf springs and wouldn't have the necessary brackets to mount your coil spring/control arm setup. The Mark VIII rear is independent, and as aerocoupe said, would not be a bolt in proposition. You'd have to fabricate an entire rear subframe. Quote Selected
