Or, pulling the 302 and transmission and putting it in the v6 car!:rollin:
Might be a little more work though:rollin:

It'd be cheaper and easier to buy a V-8 car, if one was going that route :burnout:

speedo uses an electronic speed sensor not a cable, I think '85 was the switchover year for that in the cat/birds

Would it be possible to install a 4r70w in saaaay... a fox or an earlier mn-12 just by pulling the computer and running the necessary wires and harnesses to the transmission, and from the speed sensor? or speedometer or whatever it gets its information from...?

I realize the trans is computer controlled, but seriously, how much could there be to it? It seems like it could be done fairly easily to me.

Yes it can be done ...no it is not an easy swap... I  was just reading about this swap on a different forum and personally IMHO way too much modification for the gains
Fox-less at the moment

Just so you know, you can put an AOd in there no problem.

I was talking to a SC guy today, who swithced out his 4R70W and put in a AOd. He said there was nothing he had to change to get it tin there.

So, this means to me that anything out of a thunderbird or cougar, on or before your year, will go in your car. Whether it be AOdE, or plain ol AOd.

depends on the car. There are different levels of torque converters in the myriad v8 cars. However, this is backwards compatible, afaik there's no reason why you can't use a v8 trans in a v6, I just wouldn't go the other way.

actually you do want the later v6 aod over the v8 trans, especially for the aod behnd the super charged v6.
