A 1jz-who? or a 2jz-what? I must be old, because none of that made any sense to me! LOL

Personally, I am planning a Duratec 2.3 swap, keeping it turbocharged of course. I really rather a modern I6, but Ford doesn't have any DOHC Is engines in the states, only in Australia.

Shiny Side Up!

There is a guy who swapped a 2JZ into a Supercoupe on sccoa.com.  Not a Fox body, but still a Thunderbird.

Look up how expensive aftermarket parts are for these cars especially when the boost is increased...

I believe all 4cyl turbo charged engines are finicky. When it comes to modding the 5.0 market is pretty large so is the 4.6. Being that these cars aren't AWD then off the line prowness wouldn't be a trait of such a low displacement motor. Now how about 4v 4.6 swaps?
I'm getting more and more interested as I read up on these cars.

My opinion is, if you're looking to swap a 5.0 or 4.6 into a T-bird, buy a Sport. If you want to build a 2.3t, by a TC. If you want the TC goodies and are willing to go through the trouble of swapping an engine, there are lots of TC's out there being parted out.

Welcome to the board, btw. You're not the first female on here, so we won't be hounding you. Well, maybe for pictures of your cars!

BTW, I had a 1988 T-Bird Sport way back when. I found out that it was totalled shortly after trading it in. It still has the ignition switch recall to date.

Special thanx to EricCoolCats for showing me to this site.

Oooh, bitter rivalry. You would think she drove a Firebird or something.:rollin:

Personally, I always thought the last 300Z(ed)X looked ten times shagier than the Supra that ended it all (When Toyota killed the Supra, it honestly spelled the end for every interesting Toyota to follow. That last Supra was very much a typical Toyota bubble design.). Now if we're talking Mk III Supra's, they were much more attractive than the 80's Z(ed). I was looking for a MkIII when I stumbled upon the Turbo Coupe.

It's not ugly, but not my favourite. You have to respect it on sheer numbers, though. It is a pretty insane car. Hard to believe the company that made that now has the Matrix as its most performance oriented vehicle. The Toyobaru can't come soon enough for them.
