Hey all my name is Jayda-Lynne, I live in Hampton VA. I been browsing this forum a little bit and though I should join it. I may pick up a tbird turbo coupe when I finish a couple things up. I currently own a 98 Supra TT, a 2004 SVT Cobra (hence CobraGurl), and a 2002 BMW 5 series wagon as a daily driver. Yes I know it may seem hard to believe but I was raised with cars because of my uncle. Hopefully I won't get asked a thousand questions about my cars just because I'm a girl but bring it :) lol.

Haha five point slows is what some folks call them. I'm sorta fond of them truthfully. I heard the 2.3 was just as tough if not tougher as the 3sgte and 4g63 at handling power as far as 4cyl goes.

It's all relative.
If you want to spend more on an engine that is a little more finicky, but yet unique and has a stronger bottom end, then the 2.3t is for you.

If you want a cheaper, bigger parts supply, and a fair amount of off-idle torque, then a 5.0HO is right for you.

(^^stock, anyway)

Personally, the only way I'd swap in ANY 5.0 into a decent running TC would be if that 5.0 was forced induction, well built, and I had ALL the requirements on hand to drop it in.

I'm not slamming the guys that prefer the half motor, just as I'm not one to say that a V8 is god over everything else, they both have their pros and cons.

Check out gumby's car, ChuckW's...there's some other 2.3t guys making crazy power, t3skidoo has a badass setup as well.

There's also guys making very respectable power with the 5.0's (and in a coupla cases, a 351w with a power-adder!)
The folks to look for here are Dominator, 5.8FastCat, a few others whom I can't remember.

As for saying which one is better...well, either, and neither. That's as far into that can of worms as I'm going to get, lmao

BTW, welcome to the BEST Fox Tbird Forum in the whole  galaxy, if not universe

I believe all 4cyl turbo charged engines are finicky. When it comes to modding the 5.0 market is pretty large so is the 4.6. Being that these cars aren't AWD then off the line prowness wouldn't be a trait of such a low displacement motor. Now how about 4v 4.6 swaps?
I'm getting more and more interested as I read up on these cars.

It seems pretty common to replace the 2.3T with a 5.0.  I went the other way though.  My car was originally a 5.0 and I took that out and put the 2.3T in.

Yup, there's a few guys who've done or are doing the 4.6 swap.

Shame302 was in the process..I think he got away from it...32vFoxBird did or was doing it. There's also ppl who've dropped in 351w, 429, 460, and even a case of a Caddy 500 incher!

Basically, if it'll fit, it can be used. Myself..I'm waiting for the day one of us here drops in an LS Chevy engine

We all know how potent those mean little s are lol
