What's my best option? I can take it!

:mad:1st '88 5spd T-Bird (267,000mi)down due to fuel leak (from the fuel rail~ I have replacement part), bracket securing tranny to engine block broken (also lost two bolts from tranny to bell housing so tranny slipped back 1/4" at bottom) not sure of the damage but I couldn't get reverse to disengage.

2nd '88 5spd T-Bird (103,000mi)had rattling sound from engine (like overheating/bad gas) and I just finished the compression test and cycl. #1=90psi, #2=90psi, #3=150psi, #4=155psi. Even after I put a tablespoon of oil in cycl#1 & #2, it only came up to 90psi again for both.

SO NOW..I'm "car" less and riding a bike to work! Which would be the easiest and cost effective to fix. I'm hoping 2nd T-Bird problem is just a blown head gasket(but it never smoked). If it's (2)two burnt valves, then it'll be down for awhile.

T-Bird #1 I would have to fix the fuel leak, find the continuous oil leak, get another engine-tranny bracket, secure the tranny back to the bell housing.

I can only attempt to fix one and try to get it back on the road. MAN..TWO 'BIRDS DOWN!!! IT HURTS.

Make one running car from them .Use the best parts from both to get one of them running.

LOL! That's what I was thinking...but I think Tbird #1 is just a head gasket problem...

car #1 has an assload of miles man.  Even if you do fix the current problem I'm afraid you will continue to have nothing but problems unless you do a major overhaul on the thing.

Just my 2 cents...

^^^^  What they said  ^^^^

#2 seems like your best option. IF it really is just a HG, then it's a no brainer.

sounds like HG or valves on #2, oil in the cylinder will help build compression if it is rings, but will not do much, if anything, for HG or valves...

pull #2 apart and see what it looks like

Number to car is my choice (very obvious). My weekends are this Wednesday and Thursday. I bought the parts for head gasket R&R. I'll be starting tomorrow morning at DAWN!!

DAWN! That's way too early! Not to mention up here it would be too cold!;)(About 40 Degrees this morning) What's the temperature like down there currently?

By the way, good luck getting it running.  :)

It'll be around the lower 50's with highs around 79. I have one of those mechanic jumpsuits. I want to get an early start hoping to get done around 5ish!
