Yes, Quaker City.

If you all do get something set up at QCR I would drag my Capri out for the weekend. I just raced the UMTR race there last weekend.

It's not the Cougar, but....

The 8th mile track outside of Carlisle last year....Horrendous spin off the line.  Mediocre track prep + stock tire + positive displacement blower = shiznit 60 foots.  I could'nt lay into the car till well past the 100' mark.

This is Quarter Aces Dragway formerly South Mountain Dragway.

As for the 7.5, the biggest issue would be keeping it from hooking. If you make it hook, you'll pay the consequences. I'm speaking from experience. I broke the driver's side bearing cap (below top bolt and above bottom bolt) and took out the ring gear by making mine hook. I hooked really hard and only moved about 1" on the staring line. I was spinning off the line and decided I was going to hook. I aired the tires down to 15lbs (Michelin street tires equal to the Good year Aqua treads)and heated them up really good. There was a loud bang when I left the clutch go. That was the end of my day. Unfortunately, I drove in and had to get someone come trailer me home.

Alright, just got off the phone with my contact. The ownership of the track is tenuous at best. There is no guarantee that we could plan this a year in advance. If we're lucky, we'd know in Feb.-Mar. 2010. Of course I'll be keeping close tabs on the situation.

However...my friend seems to think that we shouldn't have a problem getting the track earlier in the day, maybe even just for ourselves for the track (woohoo!) but the picnic thing should not be a problem either way.

This is going to involve money, time and patience to get going, which has always been a barrier, but you know something? You only live once. We need to do this if for nothing more than to say we did it. And I think everyone is going to have a good time, regardless of whether they race or spectate. I'm in, I'm racing all the way, and I know my car is ed slow but I don't really give a . It's just plain fun.

Paul: See you on the track bizzatch!

John: Commit. Or not. Choose.

Nick: We now know you have nothing but excuses. So go ahead and sit on the porch while the other Cats race. :flip:

Eric, since your car is that slow, we may as well race vert against vert. (I'm sure that mines no faster). Of course right now, I won't know what car I'll have with me next year. ;)

Run a bracket race!!! It does not matter how fast your car is, you are racing the clock. That is the only way to make it fair for everyone as the cars are not really in any type of classification category compatibility. Some cars have 5.0's, some 3.8's some 2.3's some 351W/C/M some even have 500 Caddys!!!! It's more or less a rolling car show for the cars that would be considered non-show worthy or as a just for fun event.

It's best to let the dust settle as you are correct, they cannot guarantee anything next year. We may loose out spot on next year's schedule.

You haven't seen MY 7.5".....
Remove the spider gears by installing a full locker and put in some good axle shafts and you'll have a MUCH sturdier piece...

I like the bracket race Idea, that way anyone can race and be in it to win
