i wanna go fast.... Reply #5 – March 08, 2009, 01:20:59 AM Oh this is absurd....don't dog the dudes ride cause he wants to drop E.TThere are a few things you can do to that 6 popper just like anything.1. Get some gears (3.55-3.73 is best for street driving)2. Get some air (good air intake system)3. Get some drag slicks.4. Loose some weight (throw everything outta the car you don't need)a. Pull the front sway barb. Lighter wheels and tires5. Kill those parasites (parasitic Drag from a Smog Pump is not needed, while you are at it get a short belt and run the alt and water pump...thats it).6. If you hit the lotto last night save up for a Super Coupe engine and wiring harness and install it. BIG DIFFERENCE...Hell go 5.0 or 460 then....LOL If you want a HUGE difference for the least amount of money and effort....go for the rear gears. Change the gears and it'll drop a second or more like that.*POP* Hell you may even get better fuel economy. That's my 5 cents!! Quote Selected
i wanna go fast.... Reply #6 – March 08, 2009, 06:19:49 AM you won't need bigger tires in the rear of a v6 unless you can spin them at launch. I know none of mine could unless it was really wet or snowy. Put smaller tires on the front, like a mini spare with a road tire mounted on it. Quote Selected

i wanna go fast.... Reply #8 – March 08, 2009, 10:37:19 AM I've seen V6 Stangs done up to 300-400 HP granted most of them had a 4.2 from a F-150. The 3.8L isn't horrible. Quote Selected

Mine used to be able to do that, sometimes. The 3.8L isn't horrible. If a v8 swap is out of the question due to money, I don't think this would be feasible. Maybe, but probably not very likely. I mean a lot of these cars can be found with v8's which are all rusted out and the people only want cheap money to get them away. Mine was $200. 88Birdlover, if and when your driving around keep your eyes pealed for other 87-88 tbirds. You never know when a v8 cougar or tbird might be sitting in someones back yard looking to be plucked, for cheap money. Also, I'm not sure that pulling the front sway bar is a good idea, sadly our cars are a unibody and tend to flex. Maybe with a v6 its not a big deal, I know after my v8 swap it was though. The majority were likely boosted and we all know that isnt cheap. Quote Selected
i wanna go fast.... Reply #11 – March 08, 2009, 01:51:58 PM Wasn't there a 3.8 Mustang in MM&FF a year ago that was fast as hell? I think it was a Super Six car and if my memory serves me right I believe it was NA too. Quote Selected
