Yeah I did it to my '88 5.0L HO Thunderbird, and loved it...  hoping this gets me in the low 14's high 13's....:D :shakeass:

T5 swap is almost done....
got the pedals in first, since I knew they were a B***H...  especially having to do it twice in one night.....:mad:


here is the AOD on the ground:


no AOD trans anymore:



flywheel, clutch, bellhousing and cable are all in:



and T5 is now in place and bolted down...:


Only thing left to do tomorrow is remove the B&M AOD shifter, fill up the T5, do the wiring for the backup lights, and put the starter and exhaust back in, and go for a rip....:evilgrin:

the hardest part are the pedals... god are they a nightmare, even with air tools...  my Tbird the pedals werent too bad, but this  thing fought me the entire time...  Will have a drive video tomorrow of it...  gonna be EXTREMELY hard babying it for 500 miles.... :evilgrin:

What wiring for the backup lights?My T-5 plugged right into the AOD harness,good to go.No mods,no cutting,no thing.Plug and play.

for the neutral saftey swtich?  Mine didnt, had to cut the plug of and re wire it...

She is DONE, and I drove it out of the barn on its own power...  I am going in for a quick shower then going for a test drive...  will post a video later tonight....

They have a plug on top of the tunnel... Just swap harnesses, no cutting ...

my t5 didnt have that harness on it, so for now that is what I did...  I will try to locate a proper harness for it as right now I dont have back up lights...


nope not good enough....  dont get me wrong it is great, and now it is a BLAST to drive! but still not enough...  might be intsalling a vortech or a paxton next, this weekend....  we'll see....

ARG! :mad:  what is it with my luck lately....  just got in from a test rip and the tranny is leaking from someplace...  looks like it is at the joint were the tail stock bolts to the main body...  :mad: :punchballs: :toilet:  now I have to tear into it AGAIN!!!!  christ I am getting sick of being under this  car....:mad:

screw it I am going camping tomorrow and will deal with it after the weekend...

When you get back into it,just slow down and take your time.You were in a mad hurry this time.A couple of days to gather your thought may not hurt anything.

not really hurrying... really...  ask baXo how quick I work.... I THINK I found the problem, though...  aparrently these things dont take 5.0L's of tranny fuild...  LOL  I just pulled the Fuild check plug and got 2 liters of oil out, so hopefully this fixes it....

Going for a test rip now....

I tried to fill me tranny up to specs after i did the floor shifter... Iwish i would have known then what I know now. There was so much money I wasted on wasted fluid
