Mid/low 13sec 5.0 project (new video and pics 7/11) Reply #435 – March 05, 2009, 01:19:31 AM I got a 3/8" spacer from Trick Flow. There are 2 fittings on the bottom of the intake that dont *quite* clear the valve covers. Even if it does barely clear with all the gaskets on, I'd rather have a little extra space there anyway. Don't wanna be hiding those gorgeous valve covers! Quote Selected

Worst case I'll just sell em. Think I should use those or my current stock shorties?http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=HOK-6128HKR&N=700+400390+300771+4294902386+4294925005+4294908331+4294840126+115&autoview=sku Quote Selected

I'm itching for some more youtube vids. lol.Got an update for ya comin right now :DThe engine is FINALLY really starting to come together. Saturday I had really hoped to have the engine mostly together, but a horrible cheap timing chain that didnt fit kept us from making much progress. To try to catch up on the lost progress, Dad and I spent 2 evenings degreeing the cam. We found out it was an earlier model cam (266/266 duration) and set it to 2 degrees retard just to give it a slight bump on the top end without hurting the bottom end much. Then today I cleaned up a few little things, spent a full HOUR prepping all of my brand new ARP head bolts with moly lube and thread sealer, torqued the heads, then installed the spider and pushrods. Pics:^Spent $105 on that dang timing chain...taking pics of it while I can!I'll end the update with this: I feel it's safe to say that we can finally start counting down the time left in WEEKS now :D . What cam/head/intake combo you going with? It's a Cloyes billet 9 keyway set. The first one I got was a Zoom 9 keyway for like $40, but the chain had tons of slack in it (enough to where you could turn 1 gear a little bit without turning the other). I ordered the Cloyes set and it is a much better built set all around. Fits perfectly. As for my H/C/I combo, read the OP, n00b! :flip: Mod list: GT40Y aluminum heads, stock HO cam, 1.7 rockers, Explorer intake, 9.5:1 comp, bored .030 over, forged pistons, ARP rod & head bolts, 65mm TB Quote Selected

Just givin ya a hard time, though! You should measure the pushrod length with two adjustable pushrods and than order the correct length pushrod than you will not need shims. Also you should be using hardened pushrods too. Just my $.02I'll go back and look at the post thanks Quote Selected
