Aussie 4.0L I6

Who would want one of these, anyway? The Barra 4.0L just can't put the power down like a 4.6L can. *rolls eyes over the moon*

I wonder what the Australians think of the 4.0 and the 4.6.

That made me smile oldraven, thanks!

I love that engine. I really wish Ford would sell the Falcon XR6 in NA.

I'd even be happy with a Barra crate engine, if Ford's worried the Falcon would be too expensive, or adding a large I6 turbo wouldn't be conductive to meeting CAFE.

I saw that article on GMI this morning. That's why I say a crate engine would be nice, since we won't be seeing the Falcon here......... ever.

I imagine they'd get a good laugh at our dog of a 4.0L six. They use the 5.4L DOHC 4v in their rear drivers (which they call the Boss 302, for 302Kw power). It's funny to look through Ford Australia's website and see the names of their sedans. Falcon, Futura, Fairmont, LTD, Fairlane. All are RWD and all are dead nameplates in the US that most of us here would like to see on our lots.

Just to bump this and balance out the negative stuff about to happen on the board.

This looks like the Australian version of Top Gear. The hosts are painful to watch, but check out The Chip. He makes The Stig look civilized. :hick:

In case you didn't have the chance to crank this one up at work today, turn it up to 11 now that you're home and watch it again. I just did and I'm thinking about passport options. I guess they don't really get winter in the south. That's a plus. And this frigin car.

I thought I'd read that the Aussie six was being replaced by the Duratec V6 engine family?

Anyway, if Ford really does come through with some of the concept versions of the Duratec, such as the Twinforce, we'll all be saying "Aussie what?"

You should look again. It's been the 302 since last year.

Carmen, I don't know if you'll ever see an 1100horse Duratec V6.

That's the plan. They are going back and forth with whether they are closing the plant or not.
