good trade? December 17, 2007, 09:25:43 AM Well i have a chance to trade my t-bird for a 1969 dodge coronet w/440 and 727 torque flight tranny... Any opinions? Quote Selected
good trade? Reply #1 – December 17, 2007, 10:02:23 AM I'd do it. I rather like Coronet's for some reason. This is coming from the guy that's going through TBird withdrawals at that... Quote Selected
good trade? Reply #2 – December 17, 2007, 03:07:16 PM do it, but tell the guy about us! Quote Selected
good trade? Reply #3 – December 17, 2007, 04:32:42 PM I'd do it depending on the condition of the Coronet. See what the car needs and the availability/cost of parts and base your decision on that.Yeah, it has a 440 but does it run leak/noise free? Try not to get blinded by the coolness factor of it, be practical. Quote Selected
good trade? Reply #4 – December 17, 2007, 04:46:27 PM the engine and tranny were just rebuilt. its the 4 door but still a nice looking car. I'll have a ase mechanic look at it for me firsthere are the picshttp://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p35/69Coronet440/?start=0 Quote Selected
good trade? Reply #5 – December 17, 2007, 05:39:11 PM I take it all back. It's a rusty 4-door, with a wiring NIGHTMARE, no real "good" parts, and a "440" that looks an awful lot like a 383. "Coronet 440" is a trim line, it has NOTHING to do with the 440 engine. (The trims went Deluxe, 440, 500, R/T). The Coronet 440 could come with 225 slant-6, a 318, or a 383. The real "440" is only found in the R/T (and Super Bee). Quote Selected
good trade? Reply #6 – December 17, 2007, 06:05:41 PM yeah it had a 318 but swapped to a 440... what i really want is just the engine and tranny to toss in my Z... Quote Selected

good trade? Reply #8 – December 17, 2007, 07:46:37 PM I guarantee you that's a 383 and not a 440. 440's are taller/wider with longer strokes (RB designation). That pig is way too small to be a 440, not to mention the off-brand intake and headers that actually clear the fenderwells.RUN AWAY! Quote Selected

good trade? Reply #11 – December 17, 2007, 08:42:20 PM 440's have far less clearance on the headers in a Coronet. Not to mention it's still painted 383 B Blue...The distributor and intake shots (along with the clearance) make me think it's a 383.If I could get a clear shot at the intakes part # we could tell for sure. I can only make out the first 3 numbers. Quote Selected
