Well i have a chance to trade my t-bird for a 1969 dodge coronet w/440 and 727 torque flight tranny...

Any opinions?

I'd do it. I rather like Coronet's for some reason. This is coming from the guy that's going through TBird withdrawals at that...

do it, but tell the guy about us!

I'd do it depending on the condition of the Coronet. See what the car needs and the availability/cost of parts and base your decision on that.

Yeah, it has a 440 but does it run leak/noise free? Try not to get blinded by the coolness factor of it, be practical.

I take it all back.

It's a rusty 4-door, with a wiring NIGHTMARE, no real "good" parts, and a "440" that looks an awful lot like a 383. "Coronet 440" is a trim line, it has NOTHING to do with the 440 engine. (The trims went Deluxe, 440, 500, R/T). The Coronet 440 could come with 225 slant-6, a 318, or a 383. The real "440" is only found in the R/T (and Super Bee).

I guarantee you that's a 383 and not a 440. 440's are taller/wider with longer strokes (RB designation). That pig is way too small to be a 440, not to mention the off-brand intake and headers that actually clear the fenderwells.

RUN AWAY!

I agree, although he seems convinced. Let's not jump to conclusions without more pics.

440's have far less clearance on the headers in a Coronet. Not to mention it's still painted 383 B Blue...

The distributor and intake shots (along with the clearance) make me think it's a 383.

If I could get a clear shot at the intakes part # we could tell for sure. I can only make out the first 3 numbers.
