Project Evolution *** Project Complete **** Wednesday July 9, 2014 Reply #1560 – July 27, 2009, 10:24:18 PM Jerry, this slick sand, who makes it? I've really only dealt with PPG, and K36 primer surfacer. So is it a temporary coating that you sand off as you smooth? like maybe a 480 grit DA? I'm curious, as I'm looking to soda blast my car, neutralize it, then want to cover it with something, before doing body work and epoxy. Can you tell I've been out of the bodywork loop for awhile? lol Quote Selected

LOLEvercoat makes Slick Sand, and Rage filler which is supposed to be the best to work with.http://www.evercoat.com/productCategory.aspx?cat=2http://www.evercoat.com/productDetail.aspx?pID=28It's mainly a leveler/primer so to speak. They say it grabs the best on bare metal scratched with 80 grit, and over epoxy. If you don't have a lot of welding and are just surfacing the car, I would just epoxy it as soon as your done blasting it. The epoxy will seal the metal better then slick sand if your not going to work on it for a long while. Then if you have to do any body work, you can grind the epoxy off where you need to. I did the SS first because I'm so close to priming it, and the SS will need to be epoxied or sealed before the paint goes on anyway. That's why I cut out the epoxy on bare metal step. The other way. is to blast it and use picklex on the bare metal, but it needs to stay dry and also needs to be in primer within a few months or it will start rusting again from the humidity in the air. I did most of my work with a D/A, and a 8" board. I needed to buy a flex long-board but never got one. Its been my experience that there is a "sweet set" of tools that will do 99.9% of the work that needs to be done. You don't seem to be the type to waste $$. Your causing me flashbacks. -DZ Quote Selected
