Like dyno graphs? October 05, 2007, 10:26:51 AM Just hit the dyno last night and I figured some of you guys might be interested in the dyno results from my particular combo to help you with your own builds. The scanner at work lost the color but the top line is torque the next one is horsepower and the lowest one is the wideband oxygen sensor. You can see my engine is running pretty rich at idle, I'm gonnna fix it today. The guy also recommended from these results that I go down 2 jet sizes on the primaries. Oh and the 2 sets of results in this graph represent when the dyno guy knocked down my initial timing a few degrees and gained about 10 horses. Definately gonna play with timing some more. So anyway the bottom line, before drivetrain losses he estimates 246 FWHP. Which is in the range I expected it to be in. And it looks like I can gain a few more horses with these results as a guide. Like dyno graphs? Reply #1 – October 05, 2007, 11:07:50 AM what car is this on? also, not to bash you or anything... but how do you have 246 at the wheels... before drivetrain loss? you have to go throught the drivetrain to get to the wheels... unless you meant crank horse. Quote Selected
Like dyno graphs? Reply #2 – October 05, 2007, 11:10:32 AM Well by FWHP I meant Flywheel Horsepower. Maybe I got my lingo wrong.. Quote Selected

Well maybe when the body work is done and the paint is waxed and shiny people will start to suspect something. But I subscribe to the less is more philosophy so it'll always be a sleeper :D Quote Selected

Like dyno graphs? Reply #7 – October 05, 2007, 08:28:18 PM 160 at the wheels and they think 246 at the engine? and 86 horsepower loss through the drivetrain? i make 150 at the wheels, and i figured i made about 180 at the engine? and i thought that was a good guess:dunno: p.s. looks like i need to make 15 horses fast, i cant be making 10 less then you Quote Selected
Like dyno graphs? Reply #8 – October 05, 2007, 09:14:33 PM Yeah I'd wondered about that too but it occurred to me after that I don't know what gear he did this in. He wanted to do the run in second because he was worried about wrecking my py tires He said he couldn't manually select 2nd but I don't know what he ended up doing. If he did it in some gear besides drive he may have just multiplied by that ratio when he worked out the flywheel horsepower. Quote Selected
Like dyno graphs? Reply #9 – October 05, 2007, 09:45:08 PM i got three runs in, and like you, the guy had to drive my car. 2 of the three were in second, and the third in third...(haha?). but anyways, the gear really didnt make much difference there was just as much difference between run 1 and 2 due to engine temp difference as there was between run 2 and 3. Like dyno graphs? Reply #10 – October 05, 2007, 11:34:07 PM Beats me. What dyno was it on? Mine was on a Mustang dyno. Logically though my horsepower would have to be in the neighbourhood of 246, I mean a stock HO was 225 and my engine is configured identically to a HO except for a better intake and carburetor. I don't know, maybe I should call the guy and ask him to explain it.... Quote Selected
Like dyno graphs? Reply #11 – October 06, 2007, 01:09:52 AM 246hp at the crank would equate more to 190-200rwhp, give or take a few...Unless you have some magical 40% driveline loss...lol. Quote Selected
Like dyno graphs? Reply #12 – October 06, 2007, 12:40:51 PM Keep in mind it's not a manual transmission. The dyno guy's been doing this day in, day out for years, I have to believe he knew what he was doing even if I don't know how he did the math. Quote Selected
Like dyno graphs? Reply #13 – October 06, 2007, 05:45:46 PM yeah, yours should be making alot more horsepower seeings how mine is pretty much a stock 200,XXX SO motor...but our dyno RWHP is pretty close, mines an auto also by the way, so that doesnt differ. which either means you have something very wrong with your drivetrain robbing your power, somethings wrong with your engine and its not at full potential, or thier dyno is outta wack. does it feel like its a fast as it should be with your mods? something just doesnt add up Quote Selected
Like dyno graphs? Reply #14 – October 06, 2007, 06:24:46 PM As far as feel goes I don't have alot to compare it to. I do know I can take out pretty much anything else on the road except for modern muscle like the new Mustangs and even then it's kinda close. Maybe he made the run in overdrive or something and then corrected for it on paper. I really need to call him after the weekend. Quote Selected
